Victory Hockey League Season 94: Post Game interview with Rip Wheeler - Game 153 - 7-4 Win against Toronto (Part 1):

Reporter: Rip, what a game tonight! You guys looked unbelievable out there. How does it feel to come away with a big win against a tough opponent like Toronto?

Rip Wheeler: Yeah baud, it feels pretty good, I won't lie to ya. Toronto always brings a uh ya know, strong game, and tonight was no different. But uh, we really dialed it in tonight. All the boys uh, we uh, stuck to the game plan, kept the pressure up, and everyone in the room
played with ya know, a ton of heart. It was a great team effort out there.

Reporter: You had a fantastic night yourself, Rip. Five points on the night! Your assist on the first goal of the night was a thing of beauty. Can you talk us through it?

Rip Wheeler: Honestly, all the credit goes to the boys. We ah, were pressuring hard in their zone and uh, Marts got the biscuit over and I uh, ya know ripped it over to Cap and uh he went a little sweet chin music bardownski! But uh, I did feel like I was uh working in a bakery bud, just out there just tossing around apple pies to the boys!

Reporter: That goal seemed to be a real turning point in the momentum of the game. Did you feel that shift on the ice?

Rip Wheeler: Buddy, it was goal number one…but uh, I mean absolutely. Gettin’ a geno right off the bat really uh gets the boys going. And uh ya know uh, the crowd was electric! They brought the heat all night. That goal really gave us a spark, and uh ya know uh, we just kept ‘er rollin’ from there’s

Reporter: You guys have been on a bit of a tear lately. What's been clicking for this Vancouver Wolves team?

Rip Wheeler: We've uh got a bunch of dogs in the room here baud. Laz has been lighting the lamp like uh Christmas tree…and the new guy uh, has fit right in ya know, Kempy has uh really stepped in and made a difference for the squad. And Laz, Marts and Cally have been on a tear lately ya know….and uh we’ve got a uh good mix of young talent and some experienced veterans who know how to stack dubyas.

Reporter: So Rip, there were a few moments there in the third period where things got a little chippy out there. What was being said on the ice?

Rip Wheeler: What gets said out there on uh the rink stays there baud…I mean uh in the heat of the moment, things can get a little emotional out there. There's a lot on the line in every game, and the uh boys get uh ya know out of hand sometimes. But that's just part of hockey. At the end of the day uh, I’ll chirp whoever I need to and bury a body in the corner for the boys in the room.
