Encarnacion Puts Goalies On Notice

TORONTO - Gale Sayers only needed eighteen inches of daylight to work his magic on the gridiron. However, defenseman Edwin Encarnacion only needs eight seconds to sack a goalie. Doubters can reference a recent pre-season game in which Encarnacion took down TOR G only eight seconds into the game to register his first goalie sack. For good measure, he would record his second of the game later on in the second period.

"The goalie sack is such an underrated statistic," said Stockholm General Manager Benoit Prevost after the game. "Especially when your options on offense are limited. One way to make up for that is to rough up the goalie, soften him up a little bit. Tyrone Williams will no doubt be benefiting from the hard work of the VHL's top goalie sack artist."

Regardless of the fact that the VHL does not recognize the goalie sack as an official statistic and insists that it is actually something called "goaltender interference," the Stockholm Vikings have wholeheartedly embraced the goalie sack. VHL goalies will have something entirely different to fear when they take the ice against Stockholm this season.
