leandrofg 1,166
@frescoelmo Joined: 2010 Class: S95 Positions Held: VHL GM, VHLM GM, Head Moderator, Moderator, Updater, Grader -- Fresco. No, not the Renaissance’s infamous painting technique that gave us beautiful work, such as the Sistine Chapel, and has endured the test of time. Michelangelo’s work, for example, had such a lasting influence on Western art that it turned him into a turtle. While the Fresco we’re writing about isn’t from the 15th century, one could say he’s even more ancient from a league perspective. In fact… the league celebrated its 17th birthday in July, and Fresco’s induction comes in his 11th. Or is it? October 9th, 2013. This date doesn’t represent the time he joined the VHL, much like Jesus… resurrection(s). Fresco joined the league before the infamous attack that took the VHL down. Ironically, Fresco signed up on this version of the VHL forum exactly 11 years before being inducted. Circa 2010, joining a new place and instantly thriving can be difficult, but Fresco was adamant and named his first act Tarik Saeijs. With such a powerful name, there was no way he would fail in the VHL. Tarik was the highest-drafted first-generation player in the season 17 draft, with Fresco beating two other inducted Builders who came into the league simultaneously. Tarik’s impact on VHL, his career, his place in the All-Time First-Gen TPE Earners (with the old weekly cap), and his place in the Hall of Fame demonstrate Fresco’s involvement and influence in the league. Unfortunately, Fresco hasn’t been the luckiest member of the league, even after his first-gen found a place in the annals of VHL history. After Tarik, many players came along, but none have found their place in the VHL Hall of Fame. The reason this article is being written is because of Fresco’s time, effort, and unwavering commitment to the VHL. Because this is more than a simulation hockey league and a daily check-up on your player’s stats. It’s your involvement in the community that will dictate your path, and now it’s time to honor Fresco’s. Fresco has taken diverse roles around the league, such as writing grader, updater, moderator, and even put on the General Manager on multiple occasions. By taking on all these roles, Fresco could engage with users across the league and establish a captivating presence. Fresco was a General Manager in the VHL and VHLM, with two spells in the former. After managing the Riga Reign between seasons 21 and 22, he was called upon after a scandal happened in New York in season 84. But he found the most success during his venture as the General Manager of the Brampton Blades of the VHLM. For two seasons, between S25 and S26, Fresco led this team, and in season 26 won the Founder’s Cup. In addition, the league recognized him as the top GM by awarding him the Ken Holland (Jack Reilly) Trophy. If the VHL is the main event, think of the VHLM as the place where you can have the most impact on new users joining the league. Although his tenure wasn’t as long as some of the other GMs in the league, it is undeniable that he had a significant impact and received recognition for it. The Hall of Fame overseer said they usually wait to add someone to the Builder Hall of Fame until they’re on the verge of leaving. Once again, Fresco shakes things up as he’s getting inducted upon taking his most prominent role in the league yet. So, this induction isn’t the epilogue but the start of a new chapter of his extensive VHL resume. frescoelmo, Ahma, sadie and 1 other 3 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/152291-frescos-hof-story/ Share on other sites
