A story abouy why I am writing a PT now instead of making graphics and Daffleck not being good enough yet.

Hey look, it's a rare occurence of OrbitingDeath writing a media spot instead of creating a graphic for a point task. So why am I writing this week? Well, I need to ensure I can get a point task in and I currently can't use photoshop yet as my old pc died. Or well, I thought it died. Each time I started the pc it would need a miracle to boot (or so i thought), so the last weeks I had doctored out a system where i would start up the pc (nothing happened on screen), turn it off 30 minutes later and reboot. Usually this gave the motherboard boot logo and then i knew it would be fine.

So this stopped working suddenly and i spent three days just trying to reboot, we got it working once. So we decided it was time to move on and just order a new office pc. It wouldn't be used for gaming, just office stuff, printing and photoshop, so nothing to heavy. So ordered one for 475 euro's. But when I unboxed the new pc. I had similar symptoms. The second i plugged in the hdmi cable, i got 1 second of an image, and then it went to black. Even then i didn't realize yet what was wrong. I contacted the support and explained the situation. They were like 'oh maybe we don't have correct drivers installed for a DVI output, try these' , so we did but to no avail.

In a screenshare that followed he also couldn't find anything wrong and he asked if i was certain it wasn't the cable, to which i answered, probably not as i think that still worked on the old pc. But as we couldn't find anything, i started to believe him. So after work was done I went to a local it shop to purchase the cables. He didnt had what i was looking for, but he did have a hdmi<>dvi connector, so that i could basically use a hdmi to hdmi cable but with that on top. I still don't know why i also bought the cable as i had hdmi to hdmi cables at the house. So that was another 17.50 euro's just for troubleshooting. And guess what, it wasn't the cable. Even with the new cable the same symptoms.

While the new computer worked on my kids tv (although it isnt suited for pc usage, atleast it showed us that it worked, but man i felt like we were in early 90's again with old vga graphics), it suddenly sank in that it wasn't the old pc, and it wasn't the cable, but it was the monitor. So i wasted almost 500 euro's and i still didnt have a working setup. So today the new monitor should come in and hopefully allow me to put this whole scenario behind me and that I can focus on making player signatures again.

And if you made it this far, please note that the queue on my thread has been empty for a while, so if you would like a signature to use, feel free to ask here:

Looking at Daffleck and Prague, I know we have a long way to go, but after a really strong start Pan has again slowed down. While i am happy with the amount of goals scored, the assists are just lacking behind. Despite Thorvaldsson being there, i had expected to be higher on the scoring list, but again won't seem to hit a point per game.

But who knows what happens next, trust the process right, even if you don't have usable centers in your team. I'm still too far of to be saying that Daffleck was the bomb with Phantoms, so that part of my quest for this player isn't done yet, so i'm not going anywhere.

Peace out and hope to see my queue filling up so i can just make graphics again if the new monitor comes in and have a photoshop pc again (but hey, i even got a backup rig now just in case!)

I was going to say, while the spending was unfortunate (and assumed unplanned), it was not exactly wasted.

Definitly unplanned, and now with an additional monitor on its way, a huge chunk of our savings.

But atleast an 8,5 % increase in salary at work, so it will level out eventually i guess.

Nice raise, congrats on that. But yeah, unexpected expenses suck. Especially when you have kids.

If cash gets really tight, I suggest renting one of those window rooms in Amsterdam this weekend and becoming your alter ego, OrbitingGigolo.

Problem solved.

There is a reason why the flag of the city of Amsterdam looks like this:

Yes Boom, we know which area you meant, no need to clarify.

But with my body and the rent there. I am not sure it's a good trade off.
