Banackock 8,344
Hey VHL, Happy Saturday. I hope you're enjoying your weekend and things are going well for you. I spoke with @Beketov and got permission to post this. The story is in the link - that will save time here. We're looking to give the best life possible for my dog, Zara, and would love any help we can get in sharing her story and maybe even helping her fight. We'll see with the future appointments once we reach some goals to cover expenses. https://gofund.me/48680068 Komrad 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/154515-zara-the-dobermans-gofundme/ Share on other sites
Banackock 8,344
Positive Update that I shared on the GFM for our little Zara: Spoiler Thank you to everyone who has helped by donating or sharing. We appreciate your kindness and cannot express our gratitude enough. With the help of your positive actions and a lot of behind the scenes work, we have managed to achieve one of our goals. Once we started to see momentum slow down for donations despite consistent efforts, we started to get a little worried that we wouldn’t reach our goals of diagnosing Zara and alternatively planned to use the funds to improve/maintain quality of life as she goes through the end stages of potential cancer. However, “I give up” isn’t in our vocabulary very often and I started calling every vet I could find in the area looking for someone who offers the same diagnosis abilities and most importantly, something more affordable. We were told it wasn’t really possible and that the $5,000-$9,000 CAD was normal (and it is). However, we managed to find someone that offered a more fair quote (2.3k to 3.8k). We immediately booked an appointment for the soonest available time. February 27th, 9am. After a consultation and exam, Zara went through numerous tests which included blood, CT scans, scopes, anesthesia and being intubated. She was incredibly strong and brave. She’s doing well and the outlook is hopeful as we now wait up 5-7 business days for an answer. Thank you again for your help. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible. Fingers crossed for positive news next week. We've had a lot of amazing people reach out whether it's been family, friends, co-workers and strangers. They've shared, donated to or provided us with resources regarding Zara's story. Most said likely nothing would of come from trying to GoFundMe thing but Zara is more than "just a dog". I couldn't sit there and do nothing for her when she's honestly the best soul ever. Hopefully some positive news this week. We're still going to keep pressing forward with everything!! It's amazing how many people donated so much! I'm glad y'all could find a decently priced vet and can finally get some answers. I'm pulling for your little family there Bana! And thank you for restoring a bit of my faith in humanity, we still generally suck usually, but today we suck just a little less collectively, and that's an awesome thing!
