The last season and the playoffs are history for Simon Valmount. He does not look back, he looks for what the future brings along.

Valmount was drafted 13th overall by Bratislava Watchmen in the 2nd round of the S43 VHLM Dispersal Draft.

Valmount comments about the draft and Bratislava:

"I was drafted when I expected to be drafted, somewhere around the second round. I didn’t play very good, but I have improved during this offseason. There were a lot of skilled guys drafted before and after me, but the draft wasn’t so deep as many people thought. The team, which drafted me is Bratislava Watchmen, very intriguing team. I’m very happy to play for them. I’m glad that there are many old team mates from Minot in Bratislava, for example Jefferson Jackson. It’s easier to play and train with some old friends rather than all new guys, of course it’s nice to get to know new guys. The number one superstar is interesting Edwin Reencarnacion. Great dude like all of the new guys I’ve already met. I’m excited to be here! But I expect myself to have a good season and I can’t for the season to start!

Actually, there was a team and a GM who wanted to draft me, but sadly, that didn’t happen."

Bratislava as a city and Slovakia as a country is a whole new experience for Valmount. He has never been in Middle Europe. Bratislava differs in many ways from Finland and Minot, at least in Valmounts opinion.

Valmounts offseason has been full of sweat, cursing and hard training. He has been working on all day long. But there have been some delightful moments too. At the start of the offseason Valmount visited his family in his home city, Utsjoki. Valmount met his lovely mom, dad and brother. Simon’s family is very happy and proud of him. For Simon, his girlfriend and family have been number one support over the last few months. Though, they all have been really worried about Simon out there in the world. Except for his girlfriend, who has travelled with Simon for a few weeks.

Most of the offseason Valmount has been training and getting weight. Tough train has produced very good results and it can be seen in Valmount weight. Also, he has been training on his overall game. Valmount’s personal coach says that his play has improved a lot. As expected Valmount has taken all joy out of the little amount of free time he had. He has spent time with his girlfriend and friends. Getting know the new city is important too.

”It has been very productive and amazing offseason, though there is days left. I can feel the difference in my play and I want to play with my new team mates. I actually bought an apartment few days ago together with my girlfriend. Small apartment with low rent. What if I get traded? … I don’t want to even think or talk about it. Case closed.” said Valmount.
