Theo Matsikas At the VHL Draft

The season 43 VHL entry draft has come and gone, and Theo Matsikas is now a member of the Helsinki Titians. Coming into the draft Theo had no idea where he would go, he was contacted by a couple of teams, but nothing firm came out of his talks. In Theo's mind he was going to be a second round pick at highest, so getting picked in the first round was quite surprising for him! Theo will not play for the titans this season, but he will also not play his team from last season, Oslo. A couple days after the draft, Oslo traded Matsikas to Ottawa. This trade was also a surprise to Matsikas, as Oslo brought in a new GM, and cleared house for the most part. We were lucky enough to catch up Theo and ask him a couple of questions.

Hello Theo, thanks for joining us today.

No problem, I am glad to be here!

All right well let’s get right into it. What are your first thoughts on the draft?

Well honestly I had no idea where I would go in the draft due to my dedication to the league, and hockey. I think a couple of past interviews scared off a couple of GMs from drafting me. With this being said, I am feeling great, and not to toot my own horn, I think the Titans are going to be very proud selecting me! The only real disappointment for me from the draft is another prospect, Micheal Clardy. The fact that he went before me is something, but the guy is a second round pick, and was tooting his own horn saying he was going to go first overall. Like come on bud.

Interesting you say that about Clardy, it should be interesting seeing you two battle it out on the ice. Onto the next question, how do you feel about the trade?

Well it’s hard to really talk about it this soon after the trade. Oslo was great for me, the team had a great group of members and we played really well on the ice. The season went great, and not to mention the playoffs! We really bonded as a team; so getting traded away from those guys is a little weird. At the same time though, a lot of top players left Oslo and the new GM asked me if id like to stay, or go play on a team that had a better chance of winning. Ultimately he wanted the best for me, and traded me to a team that has a better chance of winning this season. So with that being said, I am happy to be here, and I am ready to win some games with the Lynk!

That’s all we have with Theo, but stay tune for our next interview with Theo!

Content: 3/3 - Good interview. You hit the word count as well. I hope you do well in your VHL ventures.

Grammar: 2/2 - a few easily correctable mistakes.

"not play for the titans this season" - Titans needs a capital as it's a team's name

"lucky enough to catch up Theo' - catch up to Theo

"with the Lynk!" - Lynx

"stay tune for our next interview' - tuned

Appearance: 1/1 - Great

Overall: 6/6
