Ahma 1,428
Simon Valmount Rookie Profile Name: Simon Valmount Height: 195 cm. (6'4") Weight: 98.1 kg. (218 lbs) Position: Right Wing Hometown: Utsjoki, Finland Team: Bratislava Watchmen Valmount has played most of his career in Finland; playing in leagues such as Mestis, Liiga and the Finnish Junior League. He has also played for the Finnish National and Finnish Junior National teams. Valmount is best on the defensive side of the puck, but can show some offensive skill. He's a smart player and loves to throw hits. Pros Skating Valmount is a terrific skater and is very fast with and without the puck. With his big body acceleration is not the best, but Valmount is more agile than you would think. Valmount's speed is a big part of his game and he utilizes it to his advantage. His speed is incredible and scouts were very impressed by it. He is naturally very fast and has long legs and that helps his skating. Two-Way Play Valmount is more of a defensive than offensive player and defense is the biggest focus of his game, but Valmount has some offensive upside as well. He has great vision, and with good passing skill added to his good vision he has elements of a playmaker in his game. Defense is truly the best thing he does and his defensive play is his strong suit. His defensive positioning is amazing in every zone on the ice. Valmount's stick work is great and he is very smart with how he uses it. Overall wise his defensive game is amazing, but there's always room for improvement. Physicality Valmount has a big body and loves to hit and he uses his 6'4" and 218 lbs. frame to hit and work in the corners. He doesn't want to be a liability through a lot of penalties, so Valmount won’t hit like crazy, but he always finishes his hits. Valmount loves to hit everything anywhere on the ice. Work Ethic Valmount is a very hard worker, is always training and always gives his best. Valmount takes training seriously and is highly motived to improve. Cons Scoring Valmount is not very good at shooting the puck and will have to put in a lot of practice to improve. Though he can't shoot the puck with a lot of accuracy, he still loves to throw the puck to the net to try and create rebounds. Valmount has always been "pass first" type of guy and hasn't focused enough on his shooting ability. With more experience and training Valmount will be able to start scoring more. If he scores right now it'll be through pure luck or his ability to crash the crease. Puck Handling Valmount can't really dangle anyone and he has to train his puck handling skills. During Valmount’s first few years in VHLM/VHL he will have many giveways and his skills with the puck will need a lot of work. Even though Valmount will lose the puck on occasion, he can compensate for that with good defense, positioning and good passing. Strength Even though Valmount is a big guy, he is not as strong as he appears to be. Valmount will get knocked of the puck a lot early in his career, but he is spending time in gym and training hard. Strength is something he needs to work on, but in time he will reach his potential. Future Outlook Valmount's future is looking good. With a few seasons in VHLM he will be ready to move to play with the big boys. Valmount has the potential to become VHL top line right winger. Valmount will surely be a beast on the ice. Grammar: 2/2 - Not to many errors here. Nothing I'm going to dock for. "With his big body acceleration is not the best" - With his big body, acceleration is not the best, "Overall wise" - overall-wise "always been "pass first" type of guy" - always been a "pass first" type of guy "Valmount will get knocked of the puck" - off "spending time in gym" - in the gym Presentation: 1/1 - Good!
