Glaciem 86 Posted May 21, 2015 Share Posted May 21, 2015 Odd Misfortune Haunting Reuel in Bern Fans of the Bern Royals have very little to complain about these days. They have won eleven straight and look like a sure bet to win the European division. There is one thing that has fans up in arms, the play of mid-season addition Giovanni Reuel. Reuel was brought into the team to play on the top line with superstars Merica and TebowGow but has not lived up to the hype. After thirty games Reuel finds himself sitting with a measly thirteen points, while Merica and TG both have over one hundred. While fans are quick to jump to calling Reuel a bust and throwing all the blame for the team’s hardships against Brampton at his feet, the equipment manager has come to me to explain that Reuel’s troubles are hardly his fault. I went to the equipment manager of the Royals to see if I could get any insight into why Reuel has not been producing. According to the manager Reuel has the worst luck of any player he has ever witnessed! I asked for him to give some examples. “For instance Reuel’s sticks will be perfect before the game, I would tape them myself! But whenever he would go on the ice the tape just gets loose! I’ve never seen the like of it before! He tries to do anything with the puck and it just gets caught up on his stick because the tape is coming off! His skates are just as bad. The blades always seem to be dull, I have no idea what causes it. He has to have his skates sharpened between periods because they might as well be snowshoes after twenty minutes; it defies the laws of physics!” Personally this all seems like hogwash to me. Some sort of ploy done by the team to divert attention from Reuel’s poor performance, so I asked if I could see this first hand. It was just like the equipment manager described! During the intermission Reuel would come back into the locker room with blades as dull as a butter knife. I asked Reuel about how the equipment was going and if he has experienced these problems before. “No never. Not only do I have problems with the gear when it gets here, but half the time it does not show up! Everyone else’s gear will somehow survive the road trip but random bits and pieces from mine will be missing. People were curious why I didn’t put up any points when we blew out Yukon 6-0, I was using a spare pair of Chuck Goody’s gloves all night! Let’s just say the man has bigger hands than I do.” An odd story to say the least, Reuel ended it by saying he guarantee’s everything will be perfect for playoffs and that there will be no excuses. Bern will need this to be true as Reuel’s emergence could tip the scales in the likely finals tilt against Brampton. If anyone has answers I'd love to hear them!
