Blake Campbell living up to his S43 preview

Blake Campbell had an incredible rookie season, albeit in a backup goalie role. In 21 starts he had a save percentage of 0.930 and eight shutouts. His 19-1-1 record no doubt helped the Vikings to a Victory Cup, and now as their full-time starter, Campbell has Stockholm atop the standings after 45 games.

He isn't the start of the team, but his 0.919 save percentage is second best in the league. It would be tough for him to catch Wingate (0.933) in that regard, but Campbell tops the charts in goals against average and shutouts. His numbers aren't quite on par with his rookie season, but playing a more prominent role and playing against tougher teams, the Vikings couldn't ask for much more from the sophomore. He recently pitched a 31-save shutout of the Quebec City Meute, the highest scoring team. It was his second shutout of the Meute in five games against the team.

The Vikings future looks bright, and while they do have some question marks on their roster, Campbell is not one of them. As long as he is here, with the rest of their core pieces, the Vikings will be a competitive team.
