The VHLM has been very competitive this season with at least 5 teams competing overall and 3 teams battling it out for the top spot in the league. Saskatoon, Yukon and Olso have been battling it out all season long for the top spot in the entire VHLM which is currently being held by the Saskatoon Wild. Brampton and Bratislava are currently tied for the 4th spot in the VHLM with 76 points each but both are locks for the playoffs for their respective conferences. The Olso Storm have clinched the top spot in the European Conference while Saskatoon and Yukon are still fighting for the top spot over in the North American Conference. Saskatoon currently has 118 points compared to Yukon’s 104. There is only seven games left so it looks like the Wild will likely finish first but weird things have happened before.

Marcel Faux has been outstanding for the Wild this season

The scoring race has also been intriguing all season long with the battle between Yukon’s Aleksi Koponen and Saskatoon’s Marcel Faux. They have overtaken each other countless times during the season with both leading for long periods of time before eventually being taken over by the other. Currently Marcel Faux holds the overall points lead with 127 points compared to Koponen’s 108. Faux exploded in the last twenty or so games which has helped distance himself from Koponen in the point’s race. Faux is also leading the total goals category with Koponen trailing by just five goals. This battle between the bet center in the VHLM and best left winger in the VHLM is going to go down to the wire with only seven games left.

Yukon Rush forward Koponen has been a star for his team and second in overall scoring

To top out the top five in VHLM scoring is a trio of Saskatoon Wild players, Biggu Kyanon, MC Hammer and Max Molholt. Biggu Kyanon is third in scoring just behind Koponen with 106 points. Kyanon has been great all season long and it’s no surprise to see him near the top of league scoring and also on top of defenseman scoring. Also its not surprise to see last season’s runner up for defenseman of the year MC Hammer one point behind Kyanon with 106 points. Both Kyanon and Hammer have been driving forces to the Wild’s power offense this season so it’s no surprised they are 3-4 in overall point totals with 107 and 106 respectively. The biggest surprise of the top 5 scoring has to be Max Molholt. The first 30 or so games Molholt was not doing much offensively. He was struggling to get on the score sheet which was pretty disappointing. But he has picked up his game in a massive way and has gotten himself into the top 5 in VHLM scoring with 103 points. Molholt’s emergence helped Saskatoon to become an even bigger power house with two big scoring threats up front.

By the looks of things Marcel Faux will most likely be leading the league in points and goals with Koponen, Kyanon and Hammer battling it out for second in the point’s race. It also looks like Saskatoon will be leading the VHLM at the end. There is only seven games left so it should be interesting to see what happens come play-off time!
