Professional athletes often have problems  controlling their money. Some spend it without thinking about it too much, some players live like normal people and only spend their millions when they absolutely have to.  Luckily you rarely hear news that a retired athlete has lost all of his money. The VHL does lots of work these days on educating players and people around them about money and how to spend and invest it wisely.  Some players are good with money and rarely need help but then some players are absolutely terrible with money. Those are the players who need all the help and education about money they can get. If you don´t help them, there is a good chance they will retire with zero money in the bank.

 

Some of you might wonder why Dave ´Money´ Johnson is writing about money? Well, writing does not pay as well you think. Also my nickname is Money so I know something about it.  Last week I visited a good friend of mine, Jorma Ruutu. I decided to visit him again few days ago because he has money and I had a business idea. This is what happened.

 

Hey ! You home ? Jorma? Can you hear me? *knocks door loudly * 

 

Jr: Jesus! YES! I´m home.  *opens door* Dave? What are you doing here?

 

Decided to come and see what is up with my friend. So.. What is up?

 

Jr: Okay. Come  in. Everything is good. I was just sitting on the throne. Had a massive breakfast and now I´m paying for it. Need to get that energy into my system. Even though it is off-season for me, I never stop working out. 

 

That is cool. Actually I have a question for you. Or more like a business idea. I know you have some money in the bank and I need someone to invest in my idea. You interested?

 

Jr: Maybe. What kind of idea you have in mind?

 

Here it comes.. Talking toilet seat!  Who does not like nice little chat in the bathroom? It can also give you a motivational speech  if you are struggling. 

 

Jr: Hmm. That sounds interesting. So its just like a normal toilet seat but it can talk?

 

Pretty much. At least for now. Perhaps later we can add more features but for now  it can only talk. Also with talking I mean mostly small talk.  Nothing too complicated but when you are feeling lonely. Even a small chat can lift your spirit. 

 

Jr: True. Not going to lie Dave, that sounds pretty cool. What kind of money are we talking about?

 

Well , something like 100K would let us build a prototype that we can use to bring in more investors.

 

 

Jr: 100k? I´m in! Let me think about it until tomorrow. I will call you tomorrow and let's go from there. Is that ok?

 

Yea, that is perfect! Thank you so much. I need to get going. Got a terrible day ahead of me. Cya Jr.

Content 3/3 - Hopefully JR doesn't end up investing in a talking toilet seat... that would just weird me out. It's sad that some pro athletes blow their money so quickly but that's how some people are I guess. Nice little insight article followed by a roleplay pretty much. I'm looking forward to what happens going forward with the series.
