An Idea Re: the VHLM

As I type this I can see the emoticon logos for the four N.American ( spelled Canadian) franchises that comprise 1/2 of the VHLM.

I'm new here so if this has been discussed and dealt with forgive my ignorance.

But, it occurs to me that these scattered and half abandoned franchises would be better served and more interesting and possibly more active & competitive if they were shifted from the current spread geography to a tighter more centralized region.

Here's the proposal.

Condense the N.American side of the VHLM into the the provinces of Ontario and Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Brampton and Ottawa stay as is, the Saskatoon Wild ( a franchise I enjoy being a part of but, as part of this has to be moved) would become the farthest western outpost and be relocated to either Hamilton or Thunder Bay or possibly to a mid market city in the northern central U.S. ( area from Chicago to Buffalo )And would keep the current logo and colors with a name change they'll become the "BEARCATS".

The forgotten and abandoned Yukon Rush would be relocated to a larger market in either Ontario or somewhere in Quebec. I would like to move them to the eastern outpost for the division and put them in Halifax N.S. But, I'm concerned that would simply shift the abandoned franchises location and not eliminate the lack of interest. If it could be shown that a franchise in Halifax would be a viable option then The Rush should get a remake into something more regional. (.... Rafaels or Islanders or something like that)

This would effectively condense the N.American Division and hopefully reawaken some interest in the VHLM

Kyle,

How many to cut and from which Div.?

If you decide to eliminate teams would you simple do away with N.America at the VHLM level?

At a quick glance it appears to be the Division with the most issues.

Would YOU move the remaining teams(5-7) into a strictly European league?

You'd cut one team from each conference. The sim can't have an odd number of teams.

But why move them to Ontario/Quebec when we have members spread across the entire country and the United States. You'd be surprised but a large group of our members are actually west of Winnipeg.

I'm one of them and glad to hear that. But,it doesn't seem to be an answer to the problem with VHLM..

I'm looking at this as an outsider. And this part of the league comes across looking thin and frankly unhealthy as it appears currently.

Possibly my suggestion should have been to simply cut out the dead franchises and solidify the VHLM by making it a strictly European League at this level..I don't like that idea, but it would seem logical.

The location isn't the issue than, it's the teams itself. No point in going strictly European either. Best to have two teams from each continent.
