jRuutu 2,464
Last few seasons have been ok when it comes down to hits. I had 142 in my first season, 150 on the second, those were in 72 games each. Now I´m already at 145 and I have played 45 games! If everything goes nicely, I should break my record in next few games! I must admit that I did not expect my hitting numbers go up so heavily from previous seasons. I have been working on the physical side of my game for last eight or so months more than ever, but perhaps the biggest reason, is the fact that I have been focusing extra hard on what I ram into my body. Nutrition, boys and girls, it´s the key to big things. If you eat well and rest enough, you can keep on going pretty much the whole game. Previously I noticed that I had nothing in the tank after games, but these days I actually could play bit longer than just sixty minutes! That is huge change when you think about it. It remains to be seen if more energy means more goals and assists, so far it´s been rather good on that area as well, 45 games and 44 points. Plenty of hockey left to be played during the regular season, one thing is for sure though. I will create a new hitting record during this season! Some of you might be wondering what it means when I started to watch my eating more closely? Well, as I mentioned, I noticed that I had trouble keeping up with other guys, especially at the last parts of the game. I hired a nutrition coach to come and help me with pretty much everything food related. He made me a great eating plan, wrote down what I can eat and what I cant eat. He even gave me a book that had all kinds of recipes on it. Great little book, it´s called: Cooking with Jesus. Everybody calls my nutrition coach Jesus, not sure why though, his real name is Mike. Might be something do with the results his clients get when using his services. Part of the whole deal with Mike and him helping me, was that I promised not to tell what I eat to the press. He said that it´s a secret. I can share what I´m not allowed to eat though. I try to stay away from foods with lot´s of sugar and fat. Previously I used to enjoy drinking energy drinks and the ones that I enjoyed the most had lots of sugar. Mike went crazy when he saw me drinking my favorite energy drink. He slapped the can out of my hand and started yelling really loud. I hate to admit it, but I was bit annoyed when that happened. Just bought the can, it was cold and everything. Now they are on the banned section of my diet. I don´t mind though if that means better results on the ice. As mentioned before, it remains to be seen what kind of numbers I manage to put up during rest of the season! I feel great now though...
