Player name: Dmitri Dadonov

Hometown: Kalinin, Russia

Position: Goaltender

Height: 6'2"

Weight:  200lbs

Team: Yukon Rush

Goaltender of the future and semi-professional Russian, Dmitri Dadonov, enters the S48 VHL draft class as it's number 2 goaltender prospect. Dadonov is hot on the heels of the consensus best prospect in net, Jakab Holik, and could be picked anywhere from the mid first round to the late second depending on team need. A big body presence in net, Dadonov possesses impressive reflexes, relying on technique and a quick hand speed and reaction time to stop shots. A lover of all things Canadian, Dadonov has played for both the Saskatoon Wild and Yukon Rush, and it's rumored both teams elected to pay him in Tim Hortons gift cards as opposed to actual cash money. How will this love for breakfast food and coffee affect him in future? It's difficult to know, but for the time being let's focus on the facts.

Positives:

+ Cat-like Reflexes:

Dmitri builds his game largely around his ability rely on his unbelievable reflexes to stop the puck. He focuses a lot of training on technique and hand speed (and no, not in the way you're thinking), allowing him to be one step ahead of the shooter when it comes to making saves and stopping the puck from going into the net.

+ Godly instincts:

It has been claimed by some that Dadonov possesses a uneasy idea of where the puck is heading. This was tested during Dmitri's early teens, when he was taken to a top Soviet research facility where he was pushed to his limits, and thanks to the contribution of some performance enhancing drugs he is now almost able to stop a puck with his eyes closed.

+ Trusting nature:

Much like a dog, Dmitri is inherently trusting of those in positions of authority, allowing himself to be manipulated to the extent that he is working in illegal conditions in Yukon. This will be attractive to VHL GM's who will be salivating at the thought of exploiting his trusting nature to allow them to keep him on contract for far less than should be legal.

 Negatives:

- Not good skating

Despite the hours he spends a day training, Dadonov is apparently against working on his skating believing it to be superfluous to the role of a goalie and instead for those inferior beings who can't play in net, skaters. Maybe Dadonov's attitude will change as time goes by, but it remains certain that as things stand he's less than mobile in the crease.

- Not good leadership

Get this, despite being okay at goalie stuff, Dmitri straight sucks at both experience and leadership. While he may gain experience with erm, experience, his lack of leadership may be due to his refusal to adapt to North American ways and instead live out the fantasy that he is still in Russia. Will an iron fisted VHL GM be able to coach this out of him? Time will tell.

- Simple nature

Whilst Dmitri's personality is a positive in some ways, his stupidity may be tiresome for GMs to deal with. He has to be told several times and has a tendency to miss practices due to losing track of time whilst sat in TIm Hortons. Again, this may be ironed out in future but right now it might just be the biggest question mark hanging over him.
