TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Well Draper said this is ok for last week. First Off, the Seattle Bears were one of the feel good stories of the VHL as they made the playoffs for the first time since S43 when they won the Continental Cup. They have built through the draft in the past few seasons and it is beginning to bear fruit. Let's take a look at the core players on the roster. Seattle Roster Overview Forwards: (S41) RW Jakub Rhinehart - 392 TPE Jakub Rhinehart is the longest serving bear at the moment and will be entering his final year of VHL eligibility. He has not signed a new contract yet so it is yet to be seen if he will come back for his 8th and final season as a Seattle Bear. Last season he scored 14 goals and assisted on only 8 for a total of 22 points in 72 games. This is not very good and for a guy who doesn't practice and his hitting a harsher regression, I doubt he will be brought back. If he wants to I would expect him to take the minimum as he might not be worth more than that. I feel terrible saying that but this Seattle team is trying to compete and if you don't pull your own weight there won't be any room for you. He also put up goose eggs in the playoffs, literally 0's across the board in 5 games. (S46) RW Niels Skovgaard Niels Skovgaard has been quite a steal from the Season 46 draft as he went 10th overall in the 1st round. At this point he has more TPE than 7 players who went before him including teammate Shawn Muller. Skovgaard had a very great rookie season this past year scoring 29 goals and assisting on 29 goals for 58 points, just barely missing out on a 30-30 season. In the playoffs, he added 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points. This upcoming season Niels should become the Seattle Bears highest earning player in earning forward in terms of TPE. Should be very interesting to see if he can keep it up in the upcoming seasons. (S46) RW Shawn Muller - 366 TPE Shawn Muller is the 3rd best forward in terms of TPE. That number though is only going to go up and he should past Rhinehart this year. Muller scored 22 goals and assisted on 31 goals for 53 points on the season. Not as high as Muller wanted it, but he will take it I suppose. Muller though, put up some nice numbers despite playing a more defensive game due to the Bears forwards not really going for defence other than Klose and Muller. In the playoffs, Muller scored 2 goals and assisted on 2 for 4 points total. He will only get better in this next season. Hopefully the Bears find a Center. Defenseman (S46) D Jeff Hamilton - 417 TPE Jeff Hamilton is the 3rd player we talk about from the Season 46 VHL Entry Draft. He played a very strong sophomore campaign this year and will only get better. He led the team in scoring with 28 goals and 53 assists for 81 points. He was also a +8 to go along with 150 shots blocked. In the playoffs he also scored 1 goal to go with 4 assists for 5 points to tie the team lead in playoff scoring. At 417 TPE and counting he will be one of the best defenseman in the VHL and is entering just his third season. The future of the Bears blueline is in good hands with Hamilton. (S45) D Arcturus Mengsk - 405 TPE Arcturus Mengsk was brought to the team because his player agent is also his GM so there's that. He has been nothing but great since joining the Bears in Season 46. This past year he had scored 11 goals and assisted on 45 for 56 points. He also led the team in PIM, that's the bad of last year. If Seattle wants make some noise, they can't have their 2nd best defenseman in the box. In the playoffs, he scored 1 goal and assisted on 4 goals for 5 points. Tied for the team lead in playoff scoring but he was again the leader in PIM with 20 PIM in just 5 games. Mengsk, get it together man and stop taking so much penalties! (S45) D Bubba Nuck - 335 TPE Not to be out done by the 2 other defenseman is Bubba Nuck. He is the 3rd highest earning defenseman and he is a very solid depth option. If he keep improving Seattle will have the best top 3 defenseman in the league. He could be the Nicklas Hjarlmasson to Duncan Keith (Hamilton) and Brent Seabrook (Mengsk). He had a very solid season last year scoring 3 goals but assisting on a massive 50 goals for 53 points. He also led the team in hits with 233. In the playoffs he kind of fell off with just 3 assists but as long as he keeps improving he will be a great 2nd pairing defenseman on the Seattle Bears. Goaltender (S45) G Sandro Clegane - 468 TPE Sandro Clegane was acquired to become the number 1 goalie that Seattle needed. He did the job for the most part. He could have been better but to be fair he also could have been worse. In 64 games, he went 35-25-4 with a 0.914 save percentage and a 2.35 goals against average. Of the other 7 starting goalies, only Greg Clegane and Ariel Weinstein were in their 3rd season. So he is one of the youngest goalies out there. He unfortunately went 1-3-1 in the 5 games playoff series loss to Calgary. He did however have a 0.918 save percentage and a 2.69 goals against average. He just didn't have the scoring support he needed. Expect a better season from Clegane going into this year. As you can see, the highest TPE players on the Seattle Bears are no older than Season 45 except for Jakub Rhinehart who is he veteran presence on the team. Should be a very interesting Draft and Off-Season for the Seattle Bears who are expected to pass the Wranglers and possibly challenge the New York Americans for North American Supremacy. Toronto though, is also on the rise as they recently traded for the remaining players from the Wranglers failed cup run. They can potentially slide into the 3rd seed while Seattle goes to number 2 or possibly 1. It should be a very interesting Season 48 in the North American Conference. FacePuncher 1,343
Review: Another super freaking old media spot. First of all: On March 2, 2016 at 1:10 AM, ADwyer87 said: About to build more with Podarok? I 100% called it. second of all, solid article. Only real complaint I have is that you have the TPE on every player, but not on Skovgaard, so that was a little sad. Also, I thought it was a little funny that the picture used for Mengsk is of a 'Seattle Bears' player with the opposing team celebrating a goal in the background haha. 1116 words Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/28535-bears-roster-overview-reviewed/#findComment-334914 Share on other sites
