Position: Left Wing

Shoots: Left

Number: 29

Age: 18

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 205 lbs

Born: Reykjavík, Iceland

Early Years

Kraken was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, where his parents gave him up for adoption. He still holds this against them and vows to seek revenge after successfully setting his mark among VHL legends. Kraken grew up on the docks, working when he could, and capsizing ships in his spare time.

Jack began playing hockey when he was banished from Reykjavík, sent to live among the thieves and the outcasts. He lived in an abandoned stave church, where the group would keep warm at night. During the day they would often spend their time in the frozen wasteland by playing hockey.

Before turning 15, Kraken had already become the best player among the outcasts, and he knew that he might have a chance of making the national team. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, this is no impressive feat in Iceland as for the most part they’re not great at hockey. Kraken did end up making the team, and led them to their first better-than-14th place finish in the Global U18 Cup.

Many scouts took notice of Kraken during the tournament, and this has lead to an interest from teams in the VHLM.

Pros

Slippery: Learning from his early days on the no-rules rink of his childhood, Kraken knows how to avoid a defender. He has every advantage coming into formal leagues, as instead of avoiding a viking thief’s axe, now all he has to dodge is an opponent’s stick and body.

Unpredictable: You will never be able to tell what Jack’s next move will be. He will bring something new out of the depth’s every single time he is on the ice. He has excellent puck control that rivals some of the best in the pro leagues. Watch out for him in the skills competition.

Strength: Kraken is one of the strongest rookies we have ever seen coming into the VHLM. Standing at 6’4” and weighing in at 205, he definitely has the build for it, and some room to grow. He rarely loses a physical battle, and he is always ready to step up for a hit or a fight. I’d avoid getting this guy angry.

Cons

Temper: Occasionally Kraken’s anger will overcome him, and he is known to take questionable penalties, often in crucial moments of the game. This anger seems to come unprovoked at times as well, where he may target an unsuspecting player for what seems like no reason at all.

Communication: From what we can tell, Kraken speaks little-to-no English. All attempts of interviewing him result in him staring wide-eyed into the reporter’s soul, then he erupts into this beast, just screaming until you leave him alone. Definitely unnerving.

Big Head: This guy definitely seems to think he’s an all-star. And he may end up being one, but he hasn’t yet proven himself. Also, his head is seriously huge. Like, really big.

Overall

Jack Kraken’s natural talents and knack for the game are very impressive. He is an excellent player, and in the right environment will likely play very well. If Kraken can find a comfortable spot in the VHLM, and maybe eventually in the VHL, he will undoubtedly leave a mark. Whether that mark is in goals, or a path of destruction, we’re still unsure. But what we do know is that we’re very excited to see it happen.
