After announcing that he would be retiring by the end of the season, it was looking likely that Callum Sinclair would finish out his career in the very place it started, with HC Davos Dynamo.  Sinclair had spent six seasons with Davos, making the playoffs four times.  His sixth season, however, was the beginning of change for the Dynamo, as they failed to make the playoffs that season, began their rebuild, and selected Czech goalie Jakab Holik with the third overall pick.  Rumors had been spreading that Sinclair was on the trading block, however no teams seemed to be showing much serious interest in the American goaltender.  But after splitting time in Davos with Holik over the course of the season, Sinclair was ultimately traded to Cologne along with Brady Stropko in exchange for two third-round picks.

With both players in their final seasons and Cologne placing third in the European conference, it looks likely that the Season 48 playoffs will be their last hurrahs.  The two will add experience to the young Express team, as Stropko notoriously had an incredible run in the playoffs last season with the Stockholm Vikings, notching three game-winning goals and 10 points in the process.  Sinclair, meanwhile, had his most notable playoff performance in Season 46 when he lead all goalies in save percentage and GAA over nine games, helping to lead Davos to a first-round sweep of Riga Reign.  The S49 playoffs , however, have been tougher for Sinclair.  Going up against the Stockholm Vikings, he has already faced over 107 shots over two games, both of which the Express have lost.  The standout game of the series so far has been Game 1, a 2-1 overtime win by the Vikings, in which both goaltenders put on a show.  Ariel Weinstein won the game with 43 saves out of 44 shots, while Sinclair put up 63 saves in a losing effort for a .969 save percentage.  This isn’t the best start to the playoffs for Cologne, and while they aren’t many people’s favorites to go far in the playoffs, you can be sure Sinclair will be looking to end his career on a high note.
