The S48 World Cup of Hockey has been going on for some days now and it's shaping up to be a good one. Expectations for Team Scandinavia, being led by GM Banackock, were mixed. On one hand, their forward group is very impressive and their defenseman certainly aren't terrible. They are, however, limited by their two very young goalies. Let's look at Scandinavia a little closer. Also included in this article are various images of the World Cup so far.

Forwards

Scandinavia has a very solid group of forwards. It's unfortunate that Tim Tebowgow retired when he did as it would have been even more impressive, but Scandinavia still has a great forward lineup. It features players like Max Molholt (S48 Cup Winner and MVP candidate), Aleksi Koponen (S48 piece of shit and top fighter), Jorma Ruutu (that weird guy from New York who is actually pretty decent at hockey), Neils Skovsgaard (underrated S46 player and O.G. updater), Simon Valmount ('Mr. Grumpy Bear'), and Theo Axelsson, who is still too young for me to have anything too much to say about.

All in all - a pretty good squad!

Defensemen

As mentioned above, the defensemen on Scandinava aren't terrible. Sadly they aren't great either. Joel Jarvi, the S47 Top Rookie winner, certainly leads the pack. He's complimented by current free agent defender Golden Jedtsson, whose player agent Kel seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth back in December. A rough Christmas, perhaps? On top of those two, we have the infamous Hyvarinen brothers in Marquis Hynarinen, who is likely still mad at the world about the S48 all-star game debacle, and Kerkko Hyvarinen who is, well, diamond_ace.

I'm not sure who this is or why he is here

Goalies

Currently goaltending is the weak spot for Team Scandinavia. Had I written this article a couple of days ago I likely would spoke of what looked like a bright future for Scandinavia since we had two promising goalies, however, Sven Wolf has since retired making these World Cup games the last few games he will ever play. Hope is not lost though, Joanna Akerfeldt of the enigmatic player agency is beginning to look like a very promising prospect.

In closing, I don't expect Scandinavia to win this year. But, if our goaltending situation works itself out between now and the S50 World Cup, I think we'll be a force to be reckoned with! Barring any surprise retirements our forward group should remain fairly intact. Ruutu is the oldest player but would still be eligible for the S50 tournament if ends up going the full 8 seasons. Other than that, though, players like Skovsgaard, Axelsson, a Jarvi will most likely be significantly better by the time the next World Cup rolls around. You can also expect VHL Top Fighter Aleksi Koponen to be even tougher by then so, if worse comes to worst, he will just knock the competition out, starting with Phil 'The Thrill' Hamilton.

Review: You guys are certainly doing better than the US currently so that's a positive I guess. Nice easy to read layout and well over the word count needed. Also, where the hell do you get all these gifs from? I'm tired of using that piece of shit photobucket.
