FacePuncher 1,343
Hello everyone, welcome to this freelance posting of Around the VHLM. Now that the VHLM Draft has happened, lets look at each team and see how they did in the draft. Moscow Red Wolves 1st overall: RW Max Von Hollenzollern 2nd overall: G Apollo Skye 8th overall: D Robert Jelen 9th overall: D Shaka 15th overall: RW Luke Matthews 17th overall: LW Spit Fire Moscow his hoping to finally end a 3 year playoff drought, and they have taken measures to make that so by trading with the Saskatoon Wild for the first overall pick, which they used to select RW Max von Hollenzollern. Next they picked up the only real goalie prospect, Apollo Skye, which should give them a definite edge over the competition. With the back to back picks later on, Moscow GM Dangles drafted 2 defensemen, who he will hope make coniderable contributions to the team. Later they selected another right winger, Luke Matthews, a sleeper who Moscow was very pleased to have drop to them so late in the draft. Finally in the third they selected LW Spit Fire, a player without much of a ceiling but still a prospect nontheless. Moscow looks to be a contender this year in the European Conference. Bern Royals 3rd overall: D Maksim Barnyashev 14th overall: LW Zach Gagnon II 19th overall: C Mike Ross 22nd overall: RW Ales Blasek When you win the championship, you don't expect to be picking from the cream of the crop, but that was exactly what Bern was doing when they drafted Maksim Barnyashev with the third overall pick. In the second round as well, winger Zach Gagnon II will bring a nice spark to the team. after that however, the talent falls off. third round picks Mike Ross and Ales Blasek will really just be around for depth on the Royals Ottawa Lynx 4th overall: D Guntis Petenis 12th overall: C Eric McCloy 20th overall: LW Monkey D. Luffy Ottawa doesnt trade their picks, so they found themselves with their own first round pick and used it to select defensemen Guntis Petenis, which could be a very valuable pick if he stays more than one year in the VHLM. In the second round, Ottawa selected a sleeper center, Eric McCloy, a player that could prove incredibly valuable or be a total bust. In the third it was business as usual, as winger Monkey D. Luffy doesnt have much expected of him. Brampton Blades 5th overall: D Keith Sampson III 6th overall: C Chris Fekete Jr. 16th overall: LW Leif Tresler Brampton had back to back first round picks early on in the draft. With their first selection the chose Keith Sampson III, a player that could turn into a worthwhile long term investment. Their next pick was Chris Fekete Jr., son of longtime Brampton goalie Chris Fekete, who declared for the draft late but has shown signs of being an impactful prospect. Lastly was winger Leif Tresler, who won't do much but is slightly better than your average everyday inactive. Yukon Rush 7th overall: RW Elias Forsberg 10th overall: RW Lasse Koskela 13th overall: C Logan Xylon 23rd overall: RW Smelly Fingers Yukon continued with their plan of drafting first gen players only. Elias Forsberg was a prospect that Yukon has a lot of hope for, but not everyone is convinced he will be a top prospect. Next pick, another right winger Lasse Koskela, comes from an agency that has more respect than Forsberg, and shows some promise. Next up, Logan Xylon showed a little promise with Saskatoon, but so far is nowhere to be seen in the locker room. With the last overall pick Yukon selected another right winger, Smelly Fingers, who some have said is a terrible person to share a locker room with for obvious reasons. Oslo Storm 18th overall: G Quinn Stevenson 21st overall: LW Theo Pavlik With a shortage of goalies in the VHLM, Oslo made possibly the best third round pick by selecting Quinn Stevenson with the 18th overall pick. He may not ever be the best goalie out there, but he is oen and that is what matters. With the next pick they selected winger Theo Pavlik, another solid third rounder. For a team with only 2 third rounders, Oslo made some very solid draft picks. Saskatoon Wild No picks Saskatoon won the draft lottery and did the right thing, trade the first overall pick for an S51 first and second. now, with 3 first and seconds in next year's draft, Saskatoon finally looks like they're back on track. Bratislava Watchmen No picks To win a lot you have to give up a lot, and that is what Bratislava did. They are still feeling the after effects of the S47 and S48 cup victories, and as a result ended up with no picks this year eaglesfan036 and Dangles13 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/32133-mag-supplement-around-the-vhlm-draft-review-reviewed/ Share on other sites
