Smarch 3,194
The Year of the Goalie While we know the VHL is just days into the Season Fifty-One, we couldn’t help but notice the amazing numbers put up by VHL goaltenders around the entire league. Have we finally stumbled upon the year that goaltenders will rule the usually offensively heavy league, or will the offense turn a corner as we get deeper and deeper into the season. After three goalies were drafted in the first round of the Season Forty-Five VHL Entry Draft, many wondered if we would see more superstar goalies in the league. Now in Season Fifty-One we will examine the VHL goaltender stable, seeing what the landscape looks like with these godly numbers being put up. Jakab Holik: When the Seattle Bears dealt for Holik back at the mid-season point in Season Forty-Nine, it left a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth of the Czech goaltender. It wasn’t that Holik wasn’t looking forward to back-stopping the Bears, it was the fact the team that traded him were in the midst of a Continental Cup push. The HC Davos Dynamo thought Holik was too green behind the ears for their liking even though they staked their future in him when they selected him Third Overall in the Season Forty-Eight VHL Entry Draft. Holik was been improving each day since arriving in the Emerald City, and is currently the league leader in save percentage (.972), and goals against average (0.74). Although the numbers might not stay at the Hall of Fame caliber they are currently at, we expected Holik to be a solid goalie for Seattle for years to come. Greg Clegane: One of the “old men” on the list of goaltenders, Clegane isn’t a stranger to putting up elite numbers. Clegane pulled his best Shawn Alexander by holding a league record for a single season before being beat out the following season by a fellow competitor. Clegane signed an off-season deal that saw him move from the Quebec Meute to the defending three time VHL champion Toronto Legion. Clegane, who backstopped Helsinki to two Continental Cups, was brought into to replace future Hall of Fame goaltender Hans Wingate who retired in the off-season. While the consensus on Toronto this season was they weren’t anywhere ready to compete for a fourth straight season, Clegane came in and helped solidify a major area of concern for the Legion heading into the season. Clegane sits second in the league behind Holik in save percentage (.968), and goals against average (0.82). With his time in the VHL slowing coming to a close either this season of next, Clegane is looking to leave his mark on the league with amazing numbers time and time again. Dmitri Dadonov: Dadonov is no stranger to starting hot right out of the gate, as last season he found himself on top of many individual goalie categories for most of the first half of the season. Dadonov has had a great start to his VHL career posting a save percentage above the .920 mark in his first two seasons, even with Helsinki not having much else in front of Dadonov those two seasons. Recently Dadonov has been slipping in his practice hours, but recently released a news statement explaining his recent absence. Hopefully Dadonov will be able to deal with his personal issues and make a impact comeback for the Titans very soon. *For Snatch* Edited September 26, 2016 by Smarch Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/34016-claimedgoalies-goalies-goalies-reviewed/ Share on other sites

evrydayimbyfuglien 600
Review: As usual, good work here. Haven't seen any issues with grammar or spelling from you in anything I've read of yours. Glad to see Clegane ended up in a great place after leaving Quebec.
