"In war, a great leader is cunning and can inspire his charge to great feats, making each man on the battlefield stronger than he thought he could be. Each man then pulls together under the leader, and they are collectively more powerful for it."

These words, written by Welshman Essian Ravenwing some 12 years ago, hold true in the way he plays hockey. The then-teenager knew the chances of him being in an actual war were slim, but that he could utilize his knowledge of strategy and his natural charisma to lead in other walks of life. Fast forward to the present, and the New York Americans center is finally beginning to realize his potential, sitting tied for 6th in league assists with 16 in 18 games.

A true selfless player, the striking visage of Ravenwing is constantly looking for ways to make his linemates better, his dark eyes incessantly scanning the play as it unfolds around his stick. Though he has 50 shots on the season, he has yet to score a goal, but that's just the way Ravenwing wants it.

"As a playmaker, I am in charge of taking lead of the men on the ice, of dictating where the play will go next, and of creating the opportunities we need to be successful. If I finish this season with 80 assists and 0 goals, I will be a very happy man, for I will know that I have done my best to make my linemates succeed."
