A Legion Xmas Story

“HAPPY QUANZISTKA!” yelled World at the top of his lungs, stumbling into the empty street still with the bottle of scotch in his hand. The Bar Keeper came storming out after him and yanked the bottle from grasp, returning to the warm, lit pub after a momentary look of pity directed towards World.

World leaned against the cold hood of a Ford GT3 trying to steady himself. He looked up into the dark sky, following the waltz of a thousand snowflakes as they danced their way down to the street. This made him queasy and so he pressed on into the night, dragging his feet through the once untouched fallen snow, making a path like train tracks towards his hotel.

Once in his room, he threw the key card down on the counter and tossed his jacket in the tub. He splashed water on his face, letting the droplets drip off his beard and onto the floor. Grabbing an opened whiskey bottle he downed the thimble of it that remained, letting every drop drip onto his tongue. He glanced at a picture of the Toronto Legion celebrating with the Continental Cup and flopped onto his bed with a sigh. He reached across to the bedside table and grabbed a framed picture of his family and smiled sorrowfully.

It would be another lonely night for World.
