Parechkin's Farewell Tour

Heading into Season 53, there is a star-studded player who is prepared for one last hurrah in the Victory Hockey League. That player is long time Toronto Legion captain, and superstar, Zach Parechkin.

Zach Parechkin was traded to the Seattle Bears for assets, to try and aid them to a cup before he retires, and along with him comes many accolades. One Christian Stolzschweiger (Top Rookie), three Grimm Jonsson (Top Leader), one Daisuke Kanou (Playoff MVP), two Scott Boulet (Top Two-Way Forward), one Kevin Brooks (Leading Goals), and finally, one Brett Slobodzian (Most Outstanding Player) Trophy are the accolades I speak of. Obviously, I cannot fail to mention those three Continental Cup victories under his belt as well. It has been a storied career for Zach P, as they call him. Going out with four cups would be a major accomplishment for him, as it would be for any player in the VHL in its history.

There remains a question here, and that is what kind of performance Zach Parechkin will produce without his best friend and forever linemate Max Molholt. Those two played together for Parechkin's whole VHL career thus far, so Zach might have some doubters. I do not think those doubters should be questioning anything about his game, however.

Along for the ride in this upcoming season with Zach on the Seattle Bears will be many talented players. Last season's best player, Pietro Maximoff was just acquired through trade, and not to mention superstar Bogdan Podarok. Then comes the reliable and gifted Sven Wolf, and recently named forward Felipe Rodriguez. Felipe has been an outstanding defenseman in this league during his tenor, and has now switched to the center position. With all that firepower up front, it is hard to say that they will have any trouble scoring, especially Parechkin.

Protecting their goalie is none other than Jeff Hamilton, who comes from the Toronto Legion just like Parechkin, so there is familiarity there. Then there is the presence of Guntis Petenis who will be Hamilton's partner. Both of these players will be All-Star goaltender Jakab Holik's go-to guys. Jakab Holik is another player who the VHL knows as a household name. Jakab has been an amazing goalie in the VHL for quite some time by now, and is still looking for that cup, just like much of the Bears squad.

If all things can come together smoothly, and Seattle's offense can do enough to not cause the defense any worries, things should be golden for the team. Holik in net should solidify that defense and have them not worry about too much anyhow, so there's that. Sadly, for the Dollar and a Dream Agency, this is going to be Zach Parechkin's career concluding season. His final outing. His last hurrah.
