The VHLM recently held their All-Star festivities last weekend and outside some roster emission early on the event went off without a hitch. Two old times VHLM stars came back and helped coach the two all-star teams, the two being Tyler Vassell and Zach Parise. Vassell was likely best known for his time with the Toledo Scorpions, whom he helped win a Founders Cup way back in Season Nine a season where he put up 204 points in the regular season. Parise on the other hand would be best known in the VHLM for his time Kolari Panthers during Season twelve and thirteen, where he walked away with both the Mitch Higgins and Ethan Osborne trophies during those two years. Today we’ll look at some players in the All-Star Game that made a impact this year and what could possibly be in store for them moving forward.

:ott:John Locke: Locke has been on fire all season long with the Ottawa Lynx and he didn’t take the day off on opposing players and goalies during the game that’s meant to be for fun. Locke lead the way for Team Vassell putting up five goals and one assist in just under twenty-five minutes of ice-time. For his effort Locke walked away with top honors from the game as the game’s first star, and made those around the VHL landscape take real notice. Locke was drafted last year by the Stockholm Vikings, but he didn’t last long in Sweden as he was traded to Quebec shortly after the draft ended. Watch out for the offensive powerhouse when he puts on the Meute jersey come Season Fifty-Four.

:ott:Fook Yu: Yu is the first of the Season Fifty-Four VHL Entry Draft prospects to grace our list. Yu has been playing alongside Locke all year in Ottawa, but in the All-Star Game Yu got to show his craft without playing second fiddle to Locke. Yu broke out and put up numbers that likely would get you first star honors on any other given night, except John Locke has been toying with VHLMers all seasons long. Yu has two goals and four assists on his way to picking up the games second star, which will only help his case when the VHL Entry Draft is held later this month.

:yuk:Torstein Ironside: The only goaltender that seemed to show up to the Season Fifty-Three VHLM All-Star game, Ironside was perfect for Team Vassell during his twenty minutes of the first period. Ironside face a rare feat so far during the season, being traded three times before the trade deadline. Ironside hasn’t let that fact impact his play this season though putting up forty-four wins in his sixty-two games split between Saskatoon and Yukon. Ironside has also gone on to put up a .909 save percentage and an amazing 1.56 goals against average. Ironside will be one of the hot commodities amongst all the goaltenders if he keeps on this pace come VHL Entry Draft time.
