Corco 1,266
Helsinki Titans Season in Review Franchise Cornerstone and Black Velvet celebrate one of their many goals this season for the Titans. After last seasons playoff exit at the hands of the Stockholm Vikings, the Helsinki Titans left the ice with a feeling of disappointment, but also a sense of accomplishment. They jumped from 5th to 2nd place in the European Conference in a matter of only one season, while increasing their point totals from 24 to 101. This season the Titans currently have 103 points after 69 games played, so they arguably did improve this season, although rumors in the locker room are swirling that many agents are agitated with the lack of teamwide offense. The team made a few roster moves in the offseason, losing Vincent Adultman to Free Agency, Jim Lahey to a trade, and Niels Skovsgard to retirement; in turn, the team only added rookie defenseman Hudson Abbott and rookie left winger Rudolph Schmeckeldorf through the draft. Abbott started the season off hot, and was in contention for the Stolzy, although he admittedly cooled off as the season progressed, and he currently sits with 30 points. Schmeckeldorf is a different story though; he simply never was able to even get off to any sort of start at all, and he sits last on the team in points, with only one goal and 8 assists. This should change next season though, as his shooting percentage is an abysmal 2.70%, bad enough for 2nd worst on the team, only behind Sami Zayn. Zayn is also having a bit of a sophomore slumpish-type of season, as he has only scored at about half the rate he scored last season (34 points this season vs 61 last season). Another forward who is slumping a bit is the hard-hitting Daryl Dortch, who had 42 points last season in his rookie campaign, and only has 28 this season; at least he is still a hitting machine though, with 299 currently, only behind Theo Axelsson for the team lead. Speaking of Axelsson, the Swede is continuing his strong play from last year over to the current one, leading the team with 95 points and 354 hits. His frequent linemate, Franchise Cornerstone is also having a good year, as he already has 5 more points this season than last, and he continues his development as the Titans #1C for many seasons to come. The last of the offensive players left to be reviewed is mercenary centerman Sir William Covington III, who is in his final season in the league. Due to old age/losing a step due to depreciation, the forward is on his way to having possibly 20 whole points less than last season. Labatte Trophy hopeful Black Velvet and steady two-way defender Shane Gow lead the way for a defense that is performing quite well actually, as they both are around the same point levels that they were last season, with Velvet at 83 and Gow at 52. Maksym Barnyashev brings up the rear with 45 points, less than last season, but still respectable. And last but certainly not least, is the oft-maligned netminder, Astrid Moon. The tender is having himself a breakout season, making huge strides in save percentage and goals against average, and is a huge contender for the Most Improved Trophy. evrydayimbyfuglien 600
Review: Very nice article. Gotta be one of the best I've read here. Maybe not the most creative but it was well written. No complaints on content, format, or grammar. Nice job!
