Tyler's seasonal I have no idea what I am doing mock draft is here

With the Season 55 Draft taking place at 930 tonight, it is high time I did a quick mock draft. I am, per the norm, hilariously unsure of how accurate these picks are or what kind of behind the scenes drama there is so I am just going based on team need and with likelihood of the user being active. I am also only going to do the first round because that's all I need to reach the word count.

Round One
1.
:cal: CALGARY WRANGLERS (from Cologne): Felix Savard

2. :tor: TORONTO LEGION:  Dexter Lane
3. :rig:RIGA REIGN (from Calgary)Rudy Ying
4. :dav: HC DAVOS DYNAMO:  Niko Bogdanovic
5. :tor: TORONTO LEGION (from Seattle):  Jake Scheel
6. :rig: RIGA REIGN:  Key Perought
7. :col: COLOGNE EXPRESS (from New York via Calgary): Nicodemus Raven
8. :sea: SEATTLE BEARS (from Stockholm): Peter Quil
9. :sea: SEATTLE BEARS (from Quebec City): Xavier Laflamme
10. :hel: HELSINKI TITANS: Michael Kinkaid

Calgary has first overall and after making some interesting choices last year they obviously have to take Felix Savard. He is by far the best player in this draft and looks to be a franchise player for the future.

Toronto at number two will probably take Dexter Lane. The player has ridiculous pedigree and his potential is to be another franchise player on par with Savard, though at the current rates he is likely to spend another year in the minors.

Riga will make their first pick in the first round for two seasons and will take centre Rudy Ying. A sporadic player, he has a great work ethic and is likely to end up as the most talented forward for the draft. He too will spend another year in the minors, though with a weak Reign team he could see time in the VHL sooner rather than later.

Davos is a team with a lot of depth and youth already so adding a defenseman like Niko Bogdanovic will be another piece to the puzzle for the Swiss team. He is one of the fastest risers in this draft and it will be interesting to see if a team gets ambitious and takes him a little earlier than anticipated with how fast his stock is rising.

Making their second pick in the top 5, Toronto will take Jake Scheel. There are some rumors the player prefers to end up on a European team, but he may be too good for the Legion to pass up. His draft ranking has fallen a little bit, but he remains a potential top centreman in the VHL in his prime.

Another team with two picks, the Reign will likely take goalie Key Perought here. It might be seen as a bit of a risk, but with so much talent and potential, and with Riga needing a bit of everything, it seems a pick they will be forced in to. The goalie will certainly spend one more year in the minors, but will hopefully turn in to the franchise goalie the Reign need to compete.

Cologne will end up with Nicodemus Raven, a player who has received little fanfare thus far but has worked hard to ensure he is a first round choice. There is some question as to what he projects in to, but he seems to be a player who will spend maybe two more seasons in the minors but will be a solid addition. There are strong rumors this trade could be moved before the draft tonight, but it has yet to be confirmed at this team or league approved.

Seattle has two picks back to back and will take Peter Quil the American centre as well as Xavier Laflamme the Canadian winger to set up their forwards of the future. The Bears are a team in transition with a lot of holes to fill so they will be hoping these two picks can develop in the long run for them.

The Helsinki Titans will reach a bit and take Michael Kinkaid. They don't have a lot of holes being the reigning champions and all, but adding a piece like Kinkaid can help in the future and he has some untapped potential and a long road to reach it, which can only benefit the Titans and the player as both sides can be very patient.
