Olivier Scarlett was drafted by the Riga Reign with the 5th overall selection in the 1st round. This pick was acquired via trade which involved Lukas Gagnon being traded to Madrid for a Season 18 Madrid 1st (Olivier Scarlett).

After being drafted, Scarlett jumped straight to the VHL playing in 72 games for the Reign. In 72 games, he scored 8 goals and assisted on 27 goals for 35 points. It was a pretty decent rookie season for Scarlett who also had over 200 PIM and 200 hits. The Reign made the playoffs by 13 points over 3rd place Davos. However, the Reign finished well behind the Madrid Thunder who had 113 points. In what was supposed to be a cake walk for the Thunder turned into a battle in which the Thunder eventually won in 7 games. Scarlett had 3 assists for 3 points in the series with 13 shots blocked.

In Season 19, Scarlett again had a decent season with 4 goals and 31 assists for 35 points. It was the same as his rookie season and his PIM'S and hits were down to 157 and 131 respectively. He did keep up his shot blocks over 100 again with 106. The Reign broke the 100 points barrier in Season 19 with 100 which was 6 points behind the HC Davos Dynamo who held the top spot. In a pretty even first round match up the Reign lost in 6 games. Scarlett posted 4 assists in the 6 games with 20 hits and 13 shots blocked.

Season 20 saw a big jump in points for Scarlett with 8 goals and 56 assists for 64 points. He was also a +105 which is remarkable in it's own right. His hits jumped to 234 while his shots blocked went up to 142. The Reign had a wonderful season in which they finished with 113 points but that was still not enough for 1st as the Dynamo finished with 116. In the playoffs, the Reign fell short to the Dynamo, this time a 7 game thriller. Scarlett scored 3 goals and assisted on 1 goal for 4 points in the series. 

 

Season 21 - Riga Reign

Season 21 was Scarlett's best to date with 12 goals and 80 assists for 92 points. The Reign also came first for the first time since Scarlett entered the league in Season 18. The Reign finished with 96 points which was 10 ahead of 2nd who had 86. However, that did not stop the Dynamo from upsetting the Reign in the playoffs. 6 games is all the Dynamo needed to dispatch of the Reign. Scarlett scored 1 goal and assisted on 8 goals for 9 points. It was his best playoff showing.

Season 22 was ok for Scarlett as he scored 20 goals and assisted on 40 goals for 60 points. His point production fell after other players from the Reign retired or left via trade or free agency as Riga felt it was time to rebuild. Riga finished with 51 points on the season which was 48 points out of a playoff spot.

Season 23 was much of the same for Scarlett as he scored 15 goals and assisted on 46 goals for 61 points on the season. The Reign fell to dead last in the European Conference with just 44 points which was 60 away from a playoff spot. The rebuild was real in Riga.

In Season 24, the Reign still finished last with 52 points which was 45 behind the Helsinki Titans for the last playoff spot. Scarlett scored 16 goals and assisted on 46 goals for 62 points which was around his career norm now he set for the past 3 seasons.

Scarlett was traded in the Season 24 off-season with a Season 25 Riga 2nd (RW Gaz) for Kristian Carlsson and a Season 25 Toronto 1st (D Vladimir Boomchenko). It looks like a pretty lop sided deal in Riga's favor. Scarlett scored 21 goals and assisted on 47 goals for 68 points. The Legion finished with 90 points in the regular season which was 31 points ahead of the Seattle Bears for the final playoff spot. This meant that Toronto would play the New York Americans in the 1st round. In what seemed like a even series, the Legion were swept and Scarlett's career was over. In the 4 playoff games he scored 1 goal.

Scarlett was a pretty decent defender over his 8 year career with 477 total points. He also blocked 1058 shots with 1192 hits. He was a very solid two-way defender over his career. His teams never made it out of the 1st round of the playoffs in 5 tries. Two went to a game 7 while 2 went to game 6 and once his team was swept. Very disappointing he never reached just 1 final.
