Tyler 885
Is Quebec unbeatable? Adding Hudson Abbot to an already stacked team should make Quebec the favourite Can anyone do it? Can anyone beat Quebec this season? It seems obvious that the Meute will be in the finals this year unless something amazing happens with Seattle or Toronto but let's just go with the assumption that the Meute are in the finals. They will be playing one of the GMless Davos, Riga or Helsinki and it is interesting to see how they match up with these three teams. Adding Hudson Abbott to an already stacked lineup makes Quebec by far the favourite to win the Continental Cup even if the three European teams entered the season as the favourites. Starting from the top, Riga is tied with Quebec at 80 points. They have very little room to improve their team so without some sort of maneuverability it seems unlikely they will make any real additions to their team from now until the finals. Riga are 3 and 2 against Quebec this year meaning they do have a winning record, though all of those games came before Quebec added Abbott. Despite a winning record they have a goal differential of minus one against Quebec which is usually a good indicator of a team's ability. Riga is going to need to shore up their defense in my eyes if they are able to beat Quebec, but with so little room to move it seems unlikely to happen. Quebec would enter this series as the slight favourites. Davos are second in Europe and have a 2-2 record against Quebec. They have a great record against the previously mentioned Reign but it seems like they falter against some of the lower teams in the league, evidenced by two losses to Toronto and 3 to the Wranglers. What this means? I have no idea but it is an interesting point to take note of. The Dynamo also have a minus 6 goal differential which shows Quebec is probably the better team despite the even record at 2 and 2. I would say Quebec should win this series too, but I think they might have a better shot against them then Riga does, if only due to Davos having shown they are a better team then Riga head to head. last but maybe least the Titans are back to back champs but they are an amazing(ly bad) 0-7 against Quebec this year! It seems incredible but it is true. They have 9 goals for and 23 goals against which means I actually had to break out a calculator to check out the difference here, which is currently at -14 for those curious. It seems unlikely Helsinki can beat either Davos and Riga but if they somehow manage to pull off that upset, it seems even less likely that they could beat Quebec. However as we know literally anything can and will happen with STHS. So it's not out of the question. I would say Quebec would be the over whelming favourites here. So the question is out there. Does any team have a chance to beat Quebec or are they guaranteed their championship? TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Review It would seem with the addition of Abbott moves Quebec as #1 in the league for the Cup but anything can happen because of the randomness that is STHS. The Euro playoffs will be something to watch this season and should be a lot of fun. I hope Davos makes it to the finals and gives Quebec a run for their money even though we lost @Smarch RIP Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/43715-claimed-just-give-quebec-the-cup-12/#findComment-468310 Share on other sites
