bgreene21 60
So basically I've recently got into PS and creating graphics. I'm learning a bit as I go. One thing that has completely stumped me, and I mean sitting at the computer for hours trying to figure it out, is how to create a background that pops out at you like the ones seen in so many of these graphics. Not just backgrounds, but speckles, lighting effects, the whole 9 yards. If you're curious as to what I'm talking about, check out devise's second and third sig. http://www.vhlforum.com/topic/44855-macht-request/ If anyone could give me any pointers on this it would be much appreciated. JardyB10 4,868
Some of the members have done video tutorials, but I don't know where to find them because I'm old. @boubabi and @Beketov I believe? The latter is gone for two weeks, but maybe he'll find it when he gets back. Kesler 1,514
I started making sigs like 5 years ago (atleast I think its been that long) and I just kinda figured out how to get that "pop" affect on a sig. The biggest thing for me was the layers I put on, I used to just throw a layer on and choose one of the layer setting that worked best (ie, darken, overlay, soft light etx.). I realized that wasnt really the way to go (for me anyways), after getting a super dope texture pack from @boubabi I started learning how to make sigs a completely different way. I would suggest trying to download this texture pack and go from there. Also for the pop affect you want to play around with exposure layers, blurring and brightness/contrast layers. bgreene21 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/44946-help-wanted/#findComment-481456 Share on other sites
boubabi 4,725
It's mostly compositing with multiple textures with different blending mode. The most common blending mode for those textures are darken/multiply/screen/overlay and maybe lighten bgreene21 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/44946-help-wanted/#findComment-481457 Share on other sites
boubabi 4,725
Not the best tut but I shall make a live sig soon again. If the timing is good, you could ask me some question live so I could help you and you cold see my workflow here's a speedart that you can slow down to see my process and shits bgreene21 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/44946-help-wanted/#findComment-481460 Share on other sites
