After spending two years playing NCAA Hockey for the University of North Dakota, grinding centerman Ebi Shpeen has decided to enter his name into the VHL pre-draft ring. Set to be a Season 59 prospect, Shpeen is hoping to prove a physical asset to whatever VHLM team he finds himself on next season.

“I hope to be the best center in the VHLM next year, and I want to be named the best power forward as well,” Shpeen said after making his declaration. “Hitting’s my game. I believe I can be an asset to a VHLM team and can prove to be a blue chip prospect in the VHL as well.”

Indeed, Shpeen’s physical nature makes him an interesting prospect in VHL circles. However, while he may have his power and his natural ability on the faceoff dot, many VHL scouts are questioning whether Shpeen will ever build enough of an offensive game to be anything more than a second line center. Time will tell.
