Just a few weeks shy of seasons end and everyones beginning to anticipate next years VHL draft. It looks to be a good class with some elite talent up top and good depth. Forward Veran Dragomir is still the clear cut 1 pick but after that it gets very defense heavy. The next projected draftees include 1 goalie and 2 defenseman all currently on the Yukon Rush, including Dragomir we could see 3/4 Yukon Rush be drafted consecutively to start the draft. Included among those prospects is defenseman Billy Pilgrim.

Billy is a true stay at home defenseman. His large build is conducive to the physical style of defense he plays. Billy figures to enter the draft sitting at about 175 TPE and should be in discussions around the 3rd/4th pick, but with such a defense heavy draft anything could happen. He will enter the draft with a strong checking ability (75) which is supplemented by his strength (53). He can be depended on to shut down other teams best players with his defense (80) and is capable of moving the puck himself using his skating (60). He has a long ways to go to become a relevant part of the offense, despite his success this season, but he is a solid defender. He will spend the next few weeks working on puck handling as he tries to enter next season a well balanced player.
