Background:

Sebastian Ironside was born and raised in Norkkoping, Sweden. You might have guessed it right when you thought the name sounded familiar. His cousin, Torstein Ironside has been a star goaltender in the VHL for many seasons. Just like his cousin Torstein, he grew up his whole life loving hockey, with household names such as Henrik Lundqvist, Markus Naslund, Mats Sundin, and many others being known worldwide and around the country. He saw what his cousin Torsy was able to accomplish with the Windsor Spitfires in the CHL and throughout the VHLM and VHL, so he wanted to follow suit.

Just like Torstein, Sebastian's family is pretty well off money-wise, so they had no problem getting him into hockey. He played a bit of junior hockey in Sweden, but ultimately it led down to him wanting to make the jump to the Canadian junior level, much like NHLer Nail Yakupov or his cousin Torstein Ironside. So he left and flew to Sweden, and was able to land a job with the London Knights.

He played for a season in London with the Knights in the CHL, gathering 64 points on a good team without top minutes. Those are good numbers, but not amazing for juniors, and after that he made his way to play for the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM. Fortunately for him, the Lynx team is in Ottawa, which is not far at all to travel from London, both being in Ontario.

Pros:

Defense: Sebastian puts forward an elite talent with his defense. If he has one thing to his name at all, it would be his defensive game. Staying in position, knocking pucks lose, blocking shots, and just putting his heart and soul out there for his teammates are one of the huge plusses for Ironside.

Passing: Ironside in Sweden and over for the London Knights made a name for himself with his breakout pass. He was one of the better players in the CHL passing out of his own zone to forwards, and you can be sure that he will find the right lanes when in the offensive zone, either on the powerplay or at even strength.

Team Player: Like previously mentioned, Sebastian puts his heart on his sleeve out there on the ice, or even in the locker room. He has always had his teammates backs whenever there is a scuffle, and is never shy to take blame for mistakes. Do not expect him to wrongly blame his teammates for losses.

Cons:

Skating: Ironside has never been the best on his skates. His strides have not been up to bar with the rest of the leagues that he plays in, but so far it has not seemed to impact his game too much.

Toughness: Sebastian is not the toughest guy out there on the ice. While he is not a small guy, he has not shown much of a presence for fighting or hitting hard in his hockey career. While he will stick up for teammates for sure, he will not usually win those battles.

Puck Handling: Sure, he is good at passing and defense, but there is a reason for that. His puck handling is poor, so he loves to get rid of the pass as fast as possible, and lucky for him he is good in those other areas. Usually when he keeps the puck on his own stick, it does not stay there long.
