Claimed: Few thoughts on the resurgent Wranglers and other things

The VHL season is nearing that time of the year where it becomes clear which teams are good and which ones are not so good. Right now we have a pretty competitive league with all but two teams theoretically in a playoff race. The Helsinki Titans are at 73 points, 3 ahead of the New York Americans and well ahead of third place Seattle. It is pretty much a two team race at the top but STHS has shown a recent history of surprises and I don't imagine anyone would be surprised if any of the top 5 teams wins the entire thing.

For my part, I made a pretty minor but potentially significant trade this week. I moved out Elias Sobeck a guy I once had high hopes for and a third round pick in a pretty deep draft (I do have two thirds, though) for Adam Warlock from Quebec. I don't lose any years since both players are Season 58 players and I gain a position of need. As well, @Green is a more active member then Boraigna has been in recent times. Green has already reached out to say he will sign a long term deal which means at worst we get a solid depth player in a position of need and at best we can get a steal. For Quebec, it seem a bad trade but their hand was forced a little bit. They got a decent depth roster player and a potential draft pick that, if used correctly, could turn in to a solid player for their future.

After writing a piece on the Calgary Wranglers struggles it seems STHS has taken the story line in to account. The team has skyrocketed up the standings passed us in Davos and in to the fifth and final playoff spot. I fully expect them to pass Riga at this rate especially if Krigars is traded as is highly expected. The Wranglers have been led by Keaton Louth who has really turned in to the number one guy they were expecting him to be in the last few weeks. He has 11 goals and 31 assists, in other words he is a star waiting to be born. I still rate the Wranglers pretty highly and can easily see them being a team to look out for come playoff time. Will they have enough fire power to beat Helsinki or the Americans? Only time will tell, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if they at least make a series out of things.

I am way too lazy to do any real research on this but I'd have to think Davos has two players in the running for comeback player of the year. Both The Charm and Joseph Bassolino have shown why they were two highly touted centres coming out of their draft years. The Charm leads the team with 24 goals and 50 points while Bassolino has 22 goals and 46 points. The dynamic duo is looking like the kinds of players who in the right situation can explode and be the kinds of leaders a team needs in this league if they want to win.

Well it only makes sense

Why would you hold on to him

At this point, no contender team can afford a 4,75M guy (I'm sure that Muller trade will be done, just with another pick). Even with 60%. And I'm not selling him for a cheap price anyways.

He's a Riga player for life.
