Name: Sidney Crosby

Age: 18

Position: D

Height: 74 in.

Weight: 220 lbs.

Right Handed

Birthplace: Fort Myers, Florida

Favorite beer: Natty Light

Sidney grew up in an area where your balls stick to your thigh from sweat when you walk to the mailbox to get the mail. With that being said ice was a hot commodity so it was expensive to get ice time. Sid spent most of his youth career shredding it up on the roller rinks, winning county championships and tournaments left and right. His first break on the ice came from a local ECHL team, the Florida Everblades. After two successful seasons on the junior Everblades the time had come for young Sidney to move to the next level, the VHLM.

PROS

Physical as F*ck- Growing up with 3 older brothers was never easy as Sid was always picked on, but it made him one tough guy. Opponents tense up when they see Sid skating towards them because they know just how punishing one of his hits can be.

Stellar Stamina- It’s not all fun and games when it comes to conditioning in the hot Florida sun. Crosby has put many hours into building stamina in some of the toughest conditions you could imagine. He can skate up and down the ice all game, which makes him a tough cookie to beat.

1 on 1- Crosby is known to step up to the plate on defense when a 1 on 1 breakaway come barreling down the ice. He has a sixth sense when it comes to predicting just what move the forward is going to make. He breaks down the chance and gets the puck out of danger.

Size- Crosby is built like a rock. Bigger than most, he can really enforce his will against his opponents. While this effects his speed, it is more than made up for by his sheer size.

CONS

Risk taker- He is prone to taking risks and getting caught too far up the ice. Most of his early experience was as a forward so he has always had an eye for goal. While his offensive mindedness may catch him out of place on occasion, he can pull a spectacular shot out of his back pocket.

Passing- Crosby’s passing could use some work. He can get the puck to you most of the time but lacks the pinpoint precision they mean the difference of a turnover or a breakaway. He has been putting in work on the ice in preparation of the upcoming season with some target practice passing to his empty beer cans.

Speed- Being on the beefier side compromises Crosby’s speed. He was never the fastest skater, but his skills and hockey knowledge have allowed him to overcome this con in the youth leagues. It is up to him to improve for the big leagues.

Overall, Crosby is a solid D-Man and is going to be a great asset to the Yukon Rush in his rookie season. I look forward to seeing this talented youngster take on the league and grow into a VHL superstar.

Honestly if you PM'd me your favorite beer was natty light, I wouldn't have let you go undrafted. Very very glad to have you on the Rush as a UFA :leo:

Sidney's first puck was a crushed natty light can from his dad.
