One season removed from what may be considered a possible upset when the Dynamo were crowned the Continental Cup champions, the Dynamo returned back to work this past week. So far the season is way too early to tell what will happen this season, but if the four games played by the Dynamo is any indication of things to come, they should be alright, alright, alright.

The Dynamo started off their off-season much like last year, only in a different fashion. After trying hard and possibly looking like the end destination for superstar free agent defenseman Matt Johnsson in the Season Sixty off-season, the Dynamo were unable to bring the high profile player on board. This off-season Dynamo management tried hard to swing a deal with the New York Americans to bring another high profile blue-liner to Switzerland, but this time New York Americans defenseman Casey Jones eluded the Dynamo and their clutches. That is now two off-seasons where the Dynamo have attempted to bring in a big name defender to play alongside Ko Kane, but much like heading into Season Sixty-One they had to alter their course.

That takes us to the biggest question mark heading into Season Sixty-Two, that being how would the Dynamo improve the back-end after losing Slava Alesksei and Luca Volkov to retirement during the off-season. Those questions are currently being answered in the form of two VHL rookies in, Alvaro Jokinen and Jacob Smith. Jokinen joins the Dynamo after spending two plus seasons in the VHLM, playing for Las Vegas, Ottawa, and Yukon during this time in the VHLM. Jokinen was originally selected Eleventh Overall in the Season Sixty-One VHL Entry Draft by the Quebec City Meute, even though Jokinen expressed his desire to play for the Dynamo and the Dynamo only leading up to the draft. A deal was swung just hours after the draft to bring Jokinen to Davos for a Season Sixty-Two second round pick, and Jokinen was brought back to a place he always considered home. The other rookie joining Jokinen on the back-end is Canadian defenseman Jacob Smith. Hailing from Miramichi New Brunswick, Smith has been progressing nicely since the Dynamo took Smith with the Twelfth pick in the Season Sixty-One draft, one selection after Jokinen.  Smith joins the Dynamo after spending the season in the VHLM last year with the Oslo Storm, a season that saw Smith take home the Founders Cup with the Storm. Now Smith is hopefully bringing that winning pedigree to Switzerland with him as he begins what will hopefully be a long and eventful career with the Dynamo.

As the Dynamo sit on top of the standings after four VHL games so far in Season Sixty-Two, we have to question if the upgraded depth will be enough to carry the team as we move through the grind of a seventy-two game schedule, along with a few other things. Will Otto Axelsson continue to lead the team in scoring throughout the season? Will Broduer officially start practicing with the team again this season? Will Ko Kane do Cocaine? All this and more to come as the season progresses.
