Devise 4,475
After a long season that some tons of drama and controversy the New York Americans managed to finish just outside the playoffs while looking like a solid competitive team. Already with three great young superstars in the making in XXX, Conner Low and Brick Wahl the Americans through slick trading also managed to end up with 3 of the top 4 picks in the S37 draft, a draft that looks to be one of the best in recent memory. This should alarm several other teams in the league for a number of reasons. The first of which is that once New York gets a solid team around it, history shows us that this team can compete for a long period of time. The second is that General Manager Chris Miller has shown the capacity to be one of the most sly and clever among the VHL. Giving him assets to play with only furthers the chances that the Americans end up stacked and ready for another dynasty run. Lastly, with a ton of great first generation players, players like Tom Slaughter, Slaeter Fjorstrom, Logan Laich and Lars Strummer as recreates, the S37 draft could very well be the draft that builds that dynasty core on an already solid young American team. For whatever reason the VHL seems to be stuck on repeat for the last decade plus. Toronto, Helsinki and Riga seem to be the teams that throw solid competitive runs among large stretches of time dominated by both New York and Davos. With Davos recently shooting out of rebuild to form what looks to be the top team for seasons to come, New York now appears to follow suit. The more the league changes, the more it stays the same it seems. With the S37 draft and on the New York Dynasty could very well be reborn. The only question will be, can the team win more than a single Cup in 11 tries this time out? sterling 1,997
Pretty sure a dynasty means more than 1 Cup win, son. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/5260-new-york-dynasty-reborn/#findComment-42269 Share on other sites
CowboyinAmerica 2,889
Given the relative age of the Quebec and Toronto teams, I don't think it'll be that long before New York is contending once again. Depending on what Koradek does for goaltending, next year may be out of the question, but wouldn't be surprised at all to see them near the top by S38.
