I Was Going To Do A This Day In History, But Then Cast Exploded His Pod All Over Us And Tied Scotty For 2nd In Points In A Single Season So This Is My Long Fan590 Thread Title Instead

Recommended Posts

Was going to continue with my short running long titled feature known as This Day In History. I had even thought about doing it on the day of the sims, but because sims happened so late, I wasn't able to do one for the day that Podrick Cast got 79 goals this season, which puts him in a 4 way tie with the legendary Tukka Reikkinen, Scotty Campbell and Bret Slobodzian. He also decided to net 174 points, which ties him for second with only Scotty Campbell. Obviously both of these are only the single season record highlights.

But still, I know you may be a new member reading this and going "who the fuck are those guys?" Other than Reik, who is a legend in his own right and was the only player to get close to scoring similar numbers to the two season one legends that by the way, even if your new, you should go "oh wait the guys whose names on on the most important awards!"

I really don't want to undersell how crazy it is to see stats this high. Yes the VHL is at a downtime in terms of quality goalies, and shot totals are through the roof. But we've been close down this path before and not produced these type of results. I feel like the perfect storm of events sort of happened this season, with a couple up and coming offensive powerhouses really starting to set the stage for what is likely to be some notable HoF careers, coupled with the league just experiencing a downer time in activity through some of the late S50's as we made changes and progressed, and sure make it a three-way with the goalie problem this season.

Nonetheless, it's still kind of awesome to see. I'd of still loved to see Cast get one more goal and conversly one more point, to hold down third for goals and 2nd for points himself. But his career is still young, which is kind of crazy to think about. It also is a constant reminder that even though the days of Campbell and Slobo produced some of the best stats of all time, perhaps we aren't the NHL. Perhaps those records aren't as untouchable as once thought? Will Season 63 bring the same shot totals and even more points? We'll have to stay tuned to find out.

In the meantime hearty congratulations to Podrick Cast @Victor. We are basically to the point where the only two names to have a better season than he did are the two best names in the record book, and both played literally like 8 real life years ago ergo the dawn of the league.

I reckon this is where I drop two 50-point seasons, finish with a few just over 100 and get to the same 800-899 points mark for the career. :P

But I'll always have these first two seasons.
