Toriyama to stay put, barring trades

Earlier today, Keiji Toriyama signed a three-year extension with the Vasteras Iron Eagles. This extension covers the rest of his career, meaning he will have spent no time as a free agent despite his past excitement for the prospect of becoming one. The Iron Eagles traded for Toriyama last season in the hopes that he would help their playoff cause, but instead the team fell from third to fourth place in Europe, missing the post-season completely. Toriyama had played for four different teams prior to Vasteras, having previously signed a contract extension with the Dynamo. The Dynamo later traded him before that deal was up, and he has been traded around since then. He has probably never played more than two consecutive seasons with a single team, and it isn't guaranteed that he will with Vasteras. There is the possibility that he would be traded or that he may retire (probably won't happen, but more words).

Last season, Toriyama was on pace for the best season of his career before being traded. After being traded, he continued to finish up his best season ever, but his production did decline with Vasteras. I would like to point out that these two previous lines are my favorite of the article. Anyway, he finished the season with 98 points, including a top ten finish in goals with 44. He participated in three fights, two of which he lost, while the third ended in a draw.
