Walter Clements’ first season in the VHLM has been nothing short of a wild ride. Walter was undrafted because of a little issue he had before the draft. The headline read: “'Walter Clements was found unconscious in a hotel room with 86 cans of WD-40, and a case of Somas, Turns out Walter likes the smell of WD-40. The Somas were for if the WD didn't get that certain point of high.” You see, Walter had a bit of a, well how should I put this, problem. Walter was straight up addicted to the smell of WD-40. Walter went undrafted while he was in rehab, trying to fix bis problems. One morning when Walter woke up from his home in this hometown Brooklyn, and saw he was receiving a call from Ace_Diamond, the GM of the Ottawa Lynx. Being undrafted, Walter has been waiting and waiting for a call from an VHLM team to reach his phone. He began to believe it would not happen, but on that fateful day, Walter had that phone call with Ace, and thus his VHL career began. Teddy signed a pretty sweet contract with his new team, the Ottawa Lynx later that day. Being late to the party meant of course, Walter would be behind most players in terms of their development. Walter simply did not have the same caliber of training back at home in Brooklyn. Cracking the roster as the fourth line center for Ottawa, he knew that he had a lot of work to do if he wanted his VHL Draft stock to rise and if he wanted to be an impact player. Walter was determined to train as hard as he could, and to prove to everyone who passed up on him that he was the real deal. He was a workout warrior. If you wanted to find him, chances are you could find him in the gym. Walter made a pretty instant impact for his team, scoring his first goal in just his third game. Walter centered the fourth line for the remainder of the season, getting better and better as the year went on. The Lynx will finis the regular season in first place, and he knows it. Walter is absolutely pumped. Playing on a great team so early in his career is nerve racking but extremely exciting. Suiting up for his first VHLM game, Arnor Sigurdsson, a fellow rookie, who was the person who mentored him throughout the season could tell Walter was nervous. He walked over and said to him: “No sweat kid, this is all you tonight.” Walter calmed down and was ready for the game. Unfortunately, Walterdid not have a great game and showed signs that he would struggle early on in his career. This was very disappointing to Walter and the team, but everyone was still optimistic about him and the future. Now that the first game, it was time to focus on the few remaining games, playoffs, and getting ready for the upcoming VHL Draft. Walter was not expecting much as he knew he was still behind most of his draft class. He was expecting to go somewhere in the mid to late third round. Everything has been so crazy so far. Man, this would be a good time for some WD-40...
