SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN -- The draft beckons ever closer.

Today - in simple fashion - we're analyzing Saskatoon's top five players and their draft stock, who may be dark horses and who might just surprise potential VHL teams.

Shawnomir Jagr | RW | 205 TPE

Jagr comes from the Olympian agency, an agency known for representing successful VHL players who are active and engaged in their development. Individually, Jagr has been a staple for a moderately successful Saskatoon Wild team. As their offensive catalyst, Jagr has produced forty goals and nearly eight points on the teams top forward unit. Unfortunately, Saskatoon is sitting four points out of a playoff wildcard spot at the moment. Jagr is projected to be an early second round pick, however - given the agencies reputation and his rapid development thus far - I would make the ultimate challenge he'll land in the first round.

Nethila Dissanayake | RW | 164 TPE

Dissanayake is perhaps the most engaged member of the Saskatoon's locker room up until the mid-season trade that introduced more players into the now cluttered roster. Dissanayake will likely return to the VHLM next season, but he's a constant presence and always willing to display his loyalty to his team. The Netha agency's premier (and first player) will likely be drafted mid-to-late second round, however if a GM is looking for consistency and a young but warming personality, Dissanayake may get chosen higher than expected.

Hans Gruber | C | 159 TPE

Hans Gruber - not to be confused with Hans Gruber (you know, the one who fell off a tower) - is one of Saskatoon's newest players, and although he may return to the VHLM, he'll likely be heading to the VHL at the rate he's developing. Dissanayake, Jagr and Gruber compose the Saskatoon's top line and it's not surprising to see all three of them go in the first two rounds of the S66 VHL entry draft. Gruber is Flash Agencies first player (we think?) and he's improving his draft stock by the day.

Apollo Hackett | D | 138 TPE

The Renom Agency returned with a blazing fury by announcing that Hackett was now represented by the organization, who has joined Saskatoon and blown past lofty expectations with ease. Hackett went from being the seventh defender to being the top defender in just a few short weeks, surpassing even Shackleford on the depth chart after potential development is factored in. The rapid and accelerated development means Hackett is a potential steal in the draft, and if a GM is paying attention he could even sneak into the second round of the S66 VHL Entry Draft.

Emil Passerelli | RW | 138 TPE

For the fifth and final player in this summary, we're fairly confident that Passerelli will return to the VHLM next season, but that won't stop a VHL team from drafting him. The Sparrow Agency hit a home run (wrong sport, but who cares!) with Passerelli representing them. Emil has been remarkable despite limited ice time and the versatile pass-first winger has found himself all over the Saskatoon lineup since he signed with the club. Although he's further down the draft, he can find himself going in the middle of the third round if a GM doing his scouting appreciates how much he's developed despite not having a second year in the VHLM to do so.

Hope you enjoyed!
