Although Kevin Low has yet to play a game in the Victory Hockey League, Low is no stranger to a VHL locker room and many of the arenas around the league. The son of VHL Hall of Famer and five time Labatte Trophy winner Connor Low, Low has spent countless hours in a VHL locker-room as a child. Low will hope to carve his own career out in the VHL in the upcoming seasons, but the youngster from New York has a lot of work ahead of him.

What the Scouts Say:

Low has been playing hockey since a very young age, so there is a lot of tape and opinions out there about the nineteen year old. It wasn’t noticeable when Low first started out that he would eventually play at a elite level of hockey when he first started but over the years playing hockey in the state of New York, Low began to stand out among his peers. Low would eventually enroll in St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute suiting up from the years 2014-2018 with the Saint Joes Marauders. Playing in the private division in the New York High School system, Low would help the Marauders win two championships in 2014 and 2016. During his time with the Marauders many scouts saw the natural ability Low was graced with, especially when it came to his passing and shooting abilities. Low was a consistent contributor on the score sheet night in and night out for the Marauders. When Low was in his senior year many scouts from around North America would pack the small rinks the Marauders will play in to scout Low. Below is a scouting report from one of the last games Low played

Pros:

Passing:

Low has the ability to take the puck in his own end and make the necessary first pass to start the rush. Without much effort Low is able to find the open man and rarely makes a bad cross ice pass that would be intercepted by a opposing player. Passing may be the greatest arsenal that Low has to date.

Hockey IQ:

Going hand in hand with his ability to make the first pass and smart choices on the ice, Low shows an incredible hockey IQ that stands above many of the other players he shares the ice with. Low consistently scans the ice and seems to anticipate the plays before they happen. Low runs the show when he is on the ice.

Leadership:

Leaders aren’t usually created they are usually born with some aptitude to lead, and with Low is sure seems to be the case. Low is a leader on the ice the way he plays the game and consistently moves others around the ice. Low helps players that share the ice with him become better players and you’ll never seem him make an example of his teammates when a mistake is made.

Cons:

Skating:

Low will need to work on his skating ability and the way he maneuvers on the ice to have an impact on the game at a high level. You can tell Low has put building his skating ability on the back burner and uses his great positioning to get back into plays when he gets skated past. As Low enters into new territories with older players he won’t be able to get away with his low quality skating ability which may be of some concern for many teams looking at Low.

Experience:

After playing four years of hockey at the high school level, Low has told many teams he plays to take a year off and focus on his game to garner more serious offers than the ones he has received to date. Low doesn’t appear to be headed to any professional hockey league at this point and time and if he does decide to join a club in the future, a year off from the game will defensively hurt his game. The professional game is much different these days and being away from the competitive nature will not do Low any good.

Discipline:

Low plays the game on the edge. Although Low doesn’t thrown many hits, he does seem to pick his place when throwing his weight around, but when challenged Low seems to never back down. An extra wack on the goalie, a glove in the face, Low isn’t afraid to swing back when needed. This has him a respected man in the locker-room, but also gets him on a first name basis when the individual opening the penalty box for the evening. Low Will have to learn to control his emotions to not have his team a man down in key situations.

Review:

That picture is great, I love it when players have their rookie photos in junior instead of an established NHL player. Nice touch.

Formatting is perfect.

I love that you've clearly put so much work into this. A nice little intro from the scouts, fleshing out the player. My only criticism is to add a summary at the bottom. Otherwise I'm all over this, well done.
