Name: Henrik Zoiderberg

Age: 18

Position: LW

Height: 6'0"

Hometown: Tonfisk, Sweden

Player Overview

The Cretin from Sweden, Henrik Zoiderberg is a playmaking winger known on and off the ice for his leadership and charitable contributions. As a member of the playoff-final eliminated 2019 Tonfisk Salmon, Henrik leads the charge to set others up for success.

Strengths

Playmaking: Henrik's ability to find lanes and draw defenders to him in five-on-five play creates dangerous opportunities when paired with a sniper. Provided his linemates are bonafide finishers, his greatest strength is getting the puck to where it needs to be at the right time, with an uncanny sense of where his teammates are. Threading needles comes easy to the young Swede, and scouts are excited to see the points he can put up when paired with a bonafide VHL-caliber shooter.

Defense: Posession is nine-tenths of the law, and in Henrik's case, it seems posession is nine-tenths of his game. Putting up an intimidating CF% through his development, Zoiderberg uses his big body to win board battles and excels at takeaways. Some have used Stone as a comparable, at times it seems Henrik has suction cups on the blade of his stick, he seems to strip the puck from his opponents so cleanly.

Leadership: Some call it a useless stat in today's game, but Zoiderberg's natural leadership abilities are clear both in the locker room and in his community. He lives and breathes by his crest, and though his physicality is non-violent, his teammates have never found him lacking in their times of need.

Weaknesses

Scoring: Though blessed with slick mitts, the scoring touch has never come easy to Henrik. Whether by his predisposition to passing, muffin of a shot, or unlucky breaks, Zoiderberg's goal tallies are constantly eclipsed by his slew of primary assists.  Without a bonafide finisher he has struggled to produce, and this has cut into his powerplay time when more dynamic quarterbacks are available. This young man could stand to play a little more selfish hockey.

Skating: Perhaps by virtue of how easily he finds lanes, Henrik has always been on the upper end of B-tier skaters. The young Swede has always been the one making outlet passes, not rushing to collect them, and further power skating training and endurance drills will be required if he's going to compete in the big show.  He's made an effort early in his career to engage training staff to improve, but not coming from a place of professional training, there is ground to make up on other players of similar age.

Fighting: Henrik doesn't fight, his pet octopus Phillipo doesn't like it.

Future Outlook

Signed by the Mexico City Kings in the offseason, Henrik's goal is more to contribute to the success of his own team and lead them to victory than taking a straight path to the VHL. Aiming for a first-line spot with some of the most bonafide scorers in the VHLM, Zoiderberg is fighting to earn a leadership role on the team and make sure his dishes are the dish best served cold.  Chances are good he'll make the big show sooner than later and make his name among the big boys.
