A Mike Blueberg Exclusive

Mike Blueberg, the extraordinary journalist, who only ever seems to interview players represented by a very specific agent, caught up with one Brandon LeBlanc a few days ahead of the VHLM season opener.

M: So Brandon, what are your thoughts on the Reapers?

B: Wow, really well thought out question there. We are good. Very good. You can see our GM knows how to orchestrate a rebuild. We went from nothing to a team of borderline VHL guys. Basically, to use a baseball analogy, we went from a team of single A guys to triple A guys. If we don't win the
Championship, this season is probably a failure.

M: Ah, yes. This is not the first time you have played on a championship caliber hockey team. How does this team compare to Vienna.

B: Vienna was stacked. The work ethic of my teammates was crazy. Here, it seems skme of my team has already put in the crazy work. We won't win because we are developing at the fastest rate. We will win because we already developed rapidly.

M: Well, I have no idea what you mean by that. Can you clairify?

B: Well yes. In Vienna, me, my teammates, and the rest of the league all were around the same skill level at the time of the Draft. We got better faster. Here, the best players in the league are around the same level. We just have more of them.

M: Again, I'm not understanding. But lets move on. What are your goals for this coming season.

B: I believe I have made my intentions clear. I want to be the best. I mean thats pretty obvious. Its what most people say. But it's true, so I gotta say it. On a more specific level, I want to lead the league in assists. Maybe I won't have the playing time to do that, I won't be disappointed as long as I'm on the leader board. But #1 in assists is my goal. Another goal is to not be a liability on defense. In Vienna, I sold out to be an elite passer. Here, I need to be more than just a facilitator. My teammates will be able to depend on me to be where I'm supposed to be, and my goalie can depend on me to prevent good looks. I don't plan on spending to much time in the penalty box either.

M: I see you have thought a lot about this...

B: (Interrupting) I've never been known as a dangerous goal scorer, but I don't plan to be invisible in that regard either. As best I can, I want to be a dangerous all around  player.

M: Ok,... Are you done talking yet? I've heard you say that you want to play in the VHLM as long as possible?

B: Well yes. I know my goal should be to eventually dominate in the VHL. But I'm not sure if that's what I want. I just wanna spend some time in this minor league until the team in Vienna comes back together. If that doesn't happen, I may just need to retire.

M: Well that's all the time we have today. Thanks for taking the time with us Brandon.

Review: Glad it was not a failed season last year and you helped the team towards a championship. For future media spots I would try to add some pictures and maybe use bold for the questions , this makes the questions and answers more distinctive. Was fun to read about my current linemate and hope you will remain an elite passer and give me the option to score some more goals. Keep it up!
