Reapers' Most Important Players Heading Into Playoffs

In for a fight: Philadelphia primed to knock the opponents out.

 

The Reapers have enjoyed a renaissance season, following much scrutiny from GM Blade following her flurry of moves in seasons prior. These bold tactics have paid dividends for the city of Philadelphia, as the squad locked up the top record in the VHLM, setting up for what is hopefully a deep playoff run towards the cup. Philadelphia has all the pieces necessary to make a deep playoff run, but some of those pieces are more important than others. This article will highlight those players that will need to be at the top of their game if the Reapers want to be lifting the trophy up at season's end.

Kyle Sabertooth: The nineteen year old left winger from the United States has been setting the ice ablaze this season, leading the Reapers in scoring with 91 total points. He has a terrific mixture of both goal scoring and assisting, balancing the two perfectly to help lead the Reapers from the front. As a jack of all trades, Philadelphia will need him to be firing on all cylinders to lead the team from the front.

John Frostbeard: Captain Courageous of the Reapers, Frostbeard is well renowned in the Philadelphia Locker-Room for being a great team influence and leader. His play on the ice is an extension of this, leading from the front as Philadelphia's leading goal scorer with 48 goals on an impressive 13% shooting percentage, good enough for ninth in the entire VHLM. Look for Frostbeard to stay aggressive on the ice and push the puck relentlessly.

Boone Jenton: The enforcer in the Reapers lineup, Vigneault is renowned for his bone-shattering hits and his knack for getting in front of the puck and blocking shots. Add an additional 63 total points for the defenceman and you begin to see that Jenton is an all-round defender with the ability to do multiple things at an elite level. Philadelphia plays an aggressive brand of hockey and that is spearheaded from the defense of Jenton and his partner in crime Vigneault at the back.

Walter Clements: The center for the Reapers, Clements is highly regarded as a player who gets the puck to guys in position to succeed. He leads Philadelphia in total assists, as well as managing to come up with an impressive 148 hits to boot. He is a true two way player and a good barometer for how the Reapers are going over the course of a game. If Clements is playing well, gaining extra possessions and playing up front aggressively, then Philadelphia is in an excellent position to do well in the contest.

GM Blade: Above all else, Blade has proven herself as an exceptional GM, with the foresight and guts to be able to pull off questionable (at the time) trades in order to set the Reapers up for future success. Her game-planning will be critical come playoff time as the Reapers look to make a deep push and finally get their hands on that VHLM Cup.

While there are still many question marks over Philadelphia entering the playoffs, they are in a prime position to succeed given the depth and quality of their squad. Only time will tell if their fairy-tale season will result in glory or defeat.
