After almost a month and a half of silence, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced today that have finally completed their investigation into the VHL. Although no official date was given, they are expected to release a report of the findings from their investigation to the public very soon. What began as an investigation of an individual player’s bet against his own team quickly ballooned into a wide ranging investigation encompassing the functioning of the VHL and then grew even larger after allegations of performance-enhancing drugs being distributed by the VHL were levied by a former employee.

Predictions about the content of the report run the entire gamut from the VHL’s complete exoneration of the VHL to such severe penalties being levied that the VHL would have to fold and multiple board members serving time in a federal prison.

Legal scholar and Yale professor of law, Dr. Vincent Ortiz thinks the fact the FBI announced that their investigation has concluded is a good sign for the VHL. “If they were going to arrest someone, they would have done it prior to the announcement. If I were part of the VHL management, I would be breathing a sigh of relief.”

VHL fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the report. The next season is scheduled to begin in the next day or two. VHL superfan David Cundiff said, “The sooner they release this report the better. I think everyone just wants this to be over with. It’s been a cloud hanging over the VHL for all of last season. Release the report and let’s get back to focusing on what’s most important, hockey.”

So someone has to say it...basically until we have a non GM simming the playoffs these games will have seriously negative stigma. How this has been allowed for a second straight season is irredeemably nonsensical. Throw yet another asterisk on the winning team of the Victory Cup which is supposed to be the top award of a player and GMs career. But boy does this cast a dark cloud. Hate to say it. The inside knowledge of how the sim operates and its applied seasonal settings is incredibly valuable.
