Some teams say that you need to score goals to win games.

Despite scoring twelve, ten, and eleven fewer goals respectively at the halfway point in the season, the Bears remain ahead in the standings of their fellow bottom-feeders the HC Davos Dynamo, the Malmo Nighthawks, and the New York Americans. This is while posting a negative twenty-six goal differential across the season, the lowest in the league, compared to the -1, -22, and -24 by each of their contemporaries.  So why are they ranked so high despite their relative lack of offense?

In the case of the Seattle Bears, you just need an all-star goalie like Rayz Funk @Rayzor_7

Despite being an average-sized goalie with a below average frame at a mere 165 lbs, Funk has put up an insane 0.914 save percentage in the first half. To put this in perspective, this would place him at 7th place overall among all starters in the S66 season. Extrapolated over a full season Funk's shots against rises to 2314, which would easily be best for 2nd in the league for the S66 season. The wins column doesn't tell the whole story.

Do I need to remind you that Funk is a rookie? With a team of mostly rookies in front of him?

To those in the media and voting selection, Rayz Funk should be a clear frontrunner for Rookie of the year. Make sure you have him on your radar. The squad is only going to improve around him, but he's given the Bears a solid foundation to build their coming seasons on.

It's true that R.Funk is doing pretty good for a goalie perspective, but I feel like B.Gaudette and one from the trio in NY (the 3 of them are top 5 in rookies stats excluding R.Funk lol). B.Gaudette is having an amazing rookie year with Malmo (he fell off the last 3 games tho) and I believe he's only playing second line probably. As for NY, the roster is straight up garbage with 2 Players under 450 TPE, so those 3 rookies who are carrying a market like NY in there first season should have a strong case as well.
