So there you have it, four trades that involved teams acquiring their GM’s second player. I know I technically cheated to get to four, as the Seattle/DC deal was set up to go the way it did from the expansion draft, but I’m trying to write a long ass article here so cut me some slack. Following the conclusion of these trades, Davos, Helsinki and Malmo join (or re-join, in the case of Davos) Seattle, Calgary and Moscow on the list of VHL teams that have both of their GMs’ players. That makes for six out of ten teams (not counting the new expansion teams for obvious reasons), a ratio that I’m not a big fan of. Considering the depth of the modern VHL, I find it less justifiable to keep allowing GMs to have both of their players (or even have two players at all), but again, it’s not really something that I’m losing sleep over.
