Image result for Australian ice hockey team

Name: Ben Storm

Position: RW

Height: 6' 3"

Weight: 180 lb

Age: 20

Nationality: Australia

Handiness: Right

Ben Storm discovered by VHLM scouts after showing promise in his stint with the National Junior Australian Hockey team. Ben Storm is a showman with the puck having an excellent feel for the game Storm expertly attacks defences creating shots for himself and his teammates. Without a strong body Storm prefers to create by being slithering finding holes and skating through using his blistering speed.

Strengths:

  • Scoring Storm's offensive IQ along with his stick skills allows him to control play in the offensive zone, reading opposing defences Storm is an expert at finding a way to will his puck into the goals. Storm controls the game through his scoring.

  • Passing: Storm uses his knowledge of opposing defences and his scoring talent to make the defence react then find the open man. Storm has a cerebral knowledge of the game almost knowing where the other players will go before, they do. His passing skills are great at opening up the floor for his scoring.

  • Puck Handling: Storm's ability to move the puck is world class, his innate knowledge of how the puck will move allows Strom to go places other players on the ice simply cant. Finding new holes to exploit Strom rushes through them with dashing puck skills before finding the goal or a teammate.

Weaknesses:

  • Strength: Storm's most obvious weakness his thin frame, Storm struggles to hold his position against stronger players, commonly getting pushed from his spots Storm can be put of his game if his opportunities are denied early.

  • Checking: Both Storms checks and discipline can be lacking. Through possessing a strong handle of the puck Storm lacks the ability to gain the puck from opposing players. Storm lacks the body to body check, as mentioned before scouts have raised the problem the Storms checking weakness might be a focus problem more a talent problem.

  • Discipline: Storm has been characterised as being rather aloof sometimes making rash decisions without considering the outcome. Sometimes while on the ice Storm seems to become disinterested if not handling the puck often.

Overall:

Storm is a very gifted Australian scorer possessing a great natural affinity for scoring the puck. But Storm has been hit with massive criticism about his love for the game; sometimes looking disinterested on the floor becoming disinterred if not consistently not touching the puck. Even through the criticism Storm’s talent is obvious displaying a other worldly ability to send the puck through the net. Storm’s obvious talent will be maximised in the Halifax system, growing into a solid player on the RW in the VHLM.

Scout’s Opinions:

“If his attitude question is answered and he deflates his ego to become part of a team, Storm will be an excellent VHLM player.” – The Athlete

“I have heard the questions about his attitude, but he has played under me I have no question about his love for the game, he is a winning player who is always focused on winning” -Oliver, Australian Junior National Team Coach

Review:

Great rookie profile, just reading it made me want Storm on my team! Loved how you broke things down into strengths and weaknesses, and then again into individual skills. Made the profile very easy to follow and stay engaged with. Only critique is that there are some small grammar/punctuation errors. Word missing from a sentence, "the" instead of "that", but these are easy mistakes to make and miss when writing anything of a few hundred words or more, and people who get paid to do this kind of stuff do worse all the time. Great job!
