Team Europe was a team on a mission at the S68 WJC and there wasn’t going to be a team that stood in their way of achieving their goal.

After falling short against Team World at the S67 WJC, there were feelings of disappointment and resentment amongst European players.

“There wasn’t a single happy soul after that game. We all knew what was on the line, and yet, we fell short. That simply wasn’t acceptable and our leadership team demanded more out of us the next time around.”

One season later - a good number of players on the S67 roster came back for the S68 team, all with another season under their belt (mostly rookie seasons in the VHL) — which meant they were a lot better and closer toward the 350 TPA cap on average as a collective unit.

“We weren’t kidding when we said we were gonna come back bigger, stronger, and faster. We executed a lot better and we had the common goal on our mind - winning gold. There were some doubters, but we shut them all up in the end. That’s what matters.”

Europe steamrolled through the round-Robin competition as well as the medal round, accomplishing the gold medal game victory and satisfying their fan base.

“most of us are done with the WJC now. It’s up to the next generation of European players to carry on the legacy. Hopefully some of us will stick around to compete at the World Cups.”
